“তোমার দেশের মধ্যে দিয়ে আমাকে যেতে দাও; আমরা পথ ছেড়ে শস্যক্ষেতে কিংবা আঙ্গুরক্ষেতে ঢুকবো না, কুয়োর জলও পান করব না; যতদিন তোমার সীমানা পার না হই, ততদিন রাজপথ দিয়ে যাব।”

23কিন্তু সীহোনের রাজা তার সীমানা দিয়ে ইস্রায়েলকে যেতে দিল না; পরিবর্তে সীহোনের রাজা তার সমস্ত প্রজাকে জড়ো করে ইস্রায়েলের বিরুদ্ধে মরুপ্রান্তে বের হল এবং যহসে উপস্থিত হয়ে ইস্রায়েলের সঙ্গে যুদ্ধ করল।
