Psalms 105
1Alleluia. 1 Give thanks to the Lord; for he is good: 1 For his mercy endures forever. 1
2Who shall tell the mighty acts of the Lord? 1 Who shall cause all his praises to be heard? 1
3Blessed are they that keep judgment, 1 And do righteousness at all times. 1
4Remember us, O Lord, with the favor thou hast to thy people: 1 Visit us with thy salvation; 1
5That we may behold the good of thine elect, 1 That we may rejoice in the gladness of thy nation, 1 That we may glory with thine inheritance. 1
6We have sinned with our fathers, 1 We have transgressed, we have done unrighteously. 1
7Our fathers in Egypt understood not thy wonders, 1 And remembered not the multitude of thy mercy; 1 But provoked him as they went up by the Red Sea. 1
8Yet he saved them for his name’s sake, 1 That he might cause his mighty power to be known. 1
9And he rebuked the Red Sea, and it was dried up: 1 So he led them through the deep as through the wilderness. 1
10And he saved them out of the hand of them that hated them, 1 And redeemed them out of the hand of the enemy. 1
11The water covered those that oppressed them: 1 There was not one of them left. 1
12Then they believed his words, 1 And celebrated his praise. 1
13They made haste, they forgot his works; 1 They waited not for his counsel. 1
14And they lusted exceedingly in the wilderness, 1 And tempted God in the dry land. 1
15And he gave them their request, 1 And sent fullness into their souls. 1
16They provoked Moses also in the camp, 1 And Aaron the holy one of the Lord. 1
17The earth opened and swallowed up Dathan, 1 And closed upon the congregation of Abiram. 1
18And a fire was kindled in their congregation, 1 And a flame burned up the sinners. 1
19And they made a calf in Horeb, 1 And worshiped the graven image, 1
20And they changed their glory 1 Into the similitude of a calf that feeds on grass. 1
21They forgot God that saved them, 1 Who had wrought great deeds in Egypt; 1
22Wondrous works in the land of Ham, 1 And terrible things at the Red Sea. 1
23So he said that he would have destroyed them, 1 Had not Moses his chosen 1 Stood before him in the breach, 1 To turn him away from the fierceness of his anger, so that he should not destroy them. 1
24Moreover they set at nought the desirable land, 1 And believed not his word. 1
25And they murmured in their tents: 1 They hearkened not to the voice of the Lord. 1
26So he lifted up his hand against them, 1 To cast them down in the wilderness; 1
27And to cast down their seed among the nations, 1 And to scatter them in the countries. 1
28They were joined also to Baal-peor, 1 And ate the sacrifices of the dead. 1 And they provoked him with their devices; 1
29And destruction was multiplied among them. 1
30Then Phinehas stood up, and made atonement: 1 And the plague ceased. 1
31And it was counted to him for righteousness, 1 To all generations forever. 1
32They provoked him also at the water of Strife, 1 And Moses was hurt for their sakes; 1
33For they provoked his spirit, 1 And he spoke unadvisedly with his lips. 1
34They destroyed not the nations which the Lord told them to destroy; 1
35But were mingled with the heathen, 1 And learned their works. 1
36And they served their graven images; 1 And it became an offense to them. 1
37And they sacrificed their sons 1 And their daughters to devils, 1
38And shed innocent blood, 1 The blood of their sons and daughters, 1 Whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan; 1 And the land was defiled with blood, 1
39And was polluted with their works; 1 And they went a-whoring with their own devices. 1
40So the Lord was very angry with his people, 1 And he abhorred his inheritance. 1
41And he delivered them into the hands of their enemies; 1 And they that hated them ruled over them. 1
42And their enemies oppressed them, 1 And they were brought down under their hands. 1
43Many a time he delivered them; 1 But they provoked him by their counsel, 1 And they were brought low by their iniquities. 1
44Yet the Lord looked upon their affliction, 1 When he heard their petition. 1
45And he remembered his covenant, 1 And repented according to the multitude of his mercy. 1
46And he caused them to be pitied 1 In the sight of all who carried them captive. 1
47Save us, O Lord our God, 1 And gather us from among the heathen, 1 That we may give thanks to thy holy name, 1 That we may glory in thy praise. 1
48Blessed be the Lord God of Israel from everlasting and to everlasting; 1 And all the people shall say, Amen, Amen.
