Psalms 106
1Alleluia. 1 Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; 1 For his mercy endures forever. 1
2Let them say so who have been redeemed by the Lord, 1 Whom he has redeemed from the hand of the enemy; 1
3And gathered them out of the countries, 1 From the east, and west, and north, and south. 1
4They wandered in the wilderness in a dry land; 1 They found no way to a city of habitation. 1
5Hungry and thirsty, 1 Their soul fainted in them. 1
6Then they cried to the Lord in their affliction, 1 And he delivered them out of their distresses. 1
7And he guided them into a straight path, 1 That they might go to a city of habitation. 1
8Let them acknowledge to the Lord his mercies, 1 And his wonderful works to the children of men. 1
9For he satisfies the empty soul, 1 And fills the hungry soul with good things, 1
10Even them that sit in darkness and the shadow of death, 1 Fettered in poverty and iron; 1
11Because they rebelled against the words of God, 1 And provoked the counsel of the Most High. 1
12So their heart was brought low with troubles; 1 They were weak, and there was no helper. 1
13Then they cried to the Lord in their affliction, 1 And he saved them out of their distresses. 1
14And he brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, 1 And broke their bonds asunder. 1
15Let them acknowledge to the Lord his mercies, 1 And his wonders to the children of men. 1
16For he broke to pieces the brazen gates, 1 And crushed the iron bars. 1
17He helped them out of the way of their iniquity; 1 For they were brought low because of their iniquities. 1
18Their soul abhorred all meat; 1 And they drew near to the gates of death. 1
19Then they cried to the Lord in their affliction, 1 And he saved them out of their distresses. 1
20He sent his word, and healed them, 1 And delivered them out of their destructions. 1
21Let them acknowledge to the Lord his mercies, 1 And his wonderful works to the children of men. 1
22And let them offer to him the sacrifice of praise, 1 And proclaim his works with exultation. 1
23They that go down to the sea in ships, 1 Doing business in many waters; 1
24These men have seen the works of the Lord, 1 And his wonders in the deep. 1
25He speaks, and the stormy wind arises, 1 And its waves are lifted up. 1
26They go up to the heavens, 1 And go down to the depths; 1 Their soul melts because of troubles. 1
27They are troubled, they stagger as a drunkard, 1 And all their wisdom is swallowed up. 1
28Then they cry to the Lord in their affliction, 1 And he brings them out of their distresses. 1
29And he commands the storm, and it is calmed into a gentle breeze, 1 And its waves are still. 1
30And they are glad, because they are quiet; 1 And he guides them to their desired haven. 1
31Let them acknowledge to the Lord his mercies, 1 And his wonderful works to the children of men. 1
32Let them exalt him in the congregation of the people, 1 And praise him in the seat of the elders. 1
33He turns rivers into a desert, 1 And streams of water into a dry land; 1
34A fruitful land into saltness, 1 For the wickedness of them that dwell in it. 1
35He turns a wilderness into pools of water, 1 And a dry land into streams of water. 1
36And there he causes the hungry to dwell, 1 And they establish for themselves cities of habitation. 1
37And they sow fields, and plant vineyards, 1 And they yield fruit of increase. 1
38And he blesses them, and they multiply exceedingly, 1 And he diminishes not the number of their cattle. 1
39Again they become few, and are brought low, 1 By the pressure of evils and pain. 1
40Contempt is poured upon their princes, 1 And he causes them to wander in a desert and trackless land. 1
41But he helps the poor out of poverty, 1 And makes him families as a flock. 1
42The upright shall see and rejoice; 1 And all iniquity shall stop her mouth. 1
43Who is wise, and will observe these things, 1 And understand the mercies of the Lord?
