Psalms 118
1Alleluia. 1 Blessed are the blameless in the way, who walk in the law of the Lord. 1
2Blessed are they that search out his testimonies: 1 They will diligently seek him with the whole heart. 1
3For they that work iniquity 1 Have not walked in his ways. 1
4Thou hast commanded us 1 Diligently to keep thy precepts. 1
5O that my ways were directed 1 To keep thine ordinances. 1
6Then shall I not be ashamed, 1 When I have respect to all thy commandments. 1
7I will give thee thanks with uprightness of heart, 1 When I have learned the judgments of thy righteousness. 1
8I will keep thine ordinances: 1 O forsake me not greatly. 1
9Wherewith shall a young man direct his way? 1 By keeping thy words. 1
10With my whole heart have I diligently sought thee: 1 Cast me not away from thy commandments. 1
11I have hidden thine oracles in my heart, 1 That I might not sin against thee. 1
12Blessed art thou, O Lord: 1 Teach me thine ordinances. 1
13With my lips have I declared 1 All the judgments of thy mouth. 1
14I have delighted in the way of thy testimonies, 1 As much as in all riches. 1
15I will meditate on thy commandments, 1 And consider thy ways. 1
16I will meditate on thine ordinances: 1 I will not forget thy words. 1
17Render a recompense to thy servant: 1 So shall I live, and keep thy words. 1
18Unveil thou mine eyes, 1 And I shall perceive wondrous things out of thy law. 1
19I am a stranger in the earth: 1 Hide not thy commandments from me. 1
20My soul has longed exceedingly 1 For thy judgments at all times. 1
21Thou hast rebuked the proud: 1 Cursed are they that turn aside from thy commandments. 1
22Remove from me reproach and contempt; 1 For I have sought out thy testimonies. 1
23For princes sat and spoke against me: 1 But thy servant was meditating on thine ordinances. 1
24For thy testimonies are my meditation, 1 And thine ordinances are my counselors. 1
25My soul has cloven to the ground; 1 Quicken thou me according to thy word. 1
26I declared my ways, and thou didst hear me; 1 Teach me thine ordinances. 1
27Instruct me in the way of thine ordinances; 1 And I will meditate on thy wondrous works. 1
28My soul has slumbered for sorrow; 1 Strengthen thou me with thy words. 1
29Remove from me the way of iniquity; 1 And be merciful to me by thy law. 1
30I have chosen the way of truth; 1 And have not forgotten thy judgments. 1
31I have cloven to thy testimonies, O Lord; 1 Put me not to shame. 1
32I ran the way of thy commandments, 1 When thou didst enlarge my heart. 1
33Teach me, O Lord, the way of thine ordinances, 1 And I will seek it out continually. 1
34Instruct me, and I will search out thy law, 1 And will keep it with my whole heart. 1
35Guide me in the path of thy commandments; 1 For I have delighted in it. 1
36Incline my heart to thy testimonies, 1 And not to covetousness. 1
37Turn away mine eyes that I may not behold vanity: 1 Quicken thou me in thy way. 1
38Confirm thine oracle to thy servant, 1 That he may fear thee. 1
39Take away my reproach which I have feared: 1 For thy judgments are good. 1
40Behold, I have desired thy commandments: 1 Quicken me in thy righteousness. 1
41And let thy mercy come upon me, O Lord; 1 Even thy salvation, according to thy word. 1
42And so I shall render an answer to them that reproach me: 1 For I have trusted in thy words. 1
43And take not the word of truth utterly out of my mouth; 1 For I have hoped in thy judgments. 1
44So shall I keep thy law continually, 1 Forever and ever. 1
45I walked also at large: 1 For I sought out thy commandments. 1
46And I spoke of thy testimonies before kings, 1 And was not ashamed. 1
47And I meditated on thy commandments, 1 Which I loved exceedingly. 1
48And I lifted up my hands to thy commandments which I loved; 1 And I meditated in thine ordinances. 1
49Remember thy words to thy servant, 1 Wherein thou hast made me hope. 1
50This has comforted me in mine affliction: 1 For thine oracle has quickened me. 1
51The proud have transgressed exceedingly; 1 But I swerved not from thy law. 1
52I remembered thy judgments of old, O Lord; 1 And was comforted. 1
53Despair took hold upon me, 1 Because of the sinners who forsake thy law. 1
54Thine ordinances were my songs 1 In the place of my sojourning. 1
55I remembered thy name, O Lord, in the night, 1 And kept thy law. 1
56This I had, 1 Because I diligently sought thine ordinances. 1
57Thou art my portion, O Lord: 1 I said that I would keep thy law. 1
58I besought thy favor with my whole heart: 1 Have mercy upon me according to thy word. 1
59I thought on thy ways, 1 And turned my feet to thy testimonies. 1
60I prepared myself (and was not terrified), 1 To keep thy commandments. 1
61The snares of sinners entangled me: 1 But I forgot not thy law. 1
62At midnight I arose, to give thanks to thee 1 For the judgments of thy righteousness. 1
63I am a companion of all them that fear thee, 1 And of them that keep thy commandments. 1
64O Lord, the earth is full of thy mercy: 1 Teach me thine ordinances. 1
65Thou hast wrought kindly with thy servant, 1 O Lord, according to thy word. 1
66Teach me kindness, and instruction, and knowledge: 1 For I have believed thy commandments. 1
67Before I was afflicted, I transgressed; 1 Therefore have I kept thy word. 1
68Good art thou, O Lord; therefore in thy goodness 1 Teach me thine ordinances. 1
69The injustice of the proud has been multiplied against me: 1 But I will search out thy commandments with all my heart. 1
70Their heart has been curdled like milk; 1 But I have meditated on thy law. 1
71It is good for me that thou hast afflicted me; 1 That I might learn thine ordinances. 1
72The law of thy mouth is better to me 1 Than thousands of gold and silver. 1
73Thy hands have made me, and fashioned me: 1 Instruct me, that I may learn thy commandments. 1
74They that fear thee will see me and rejoice: 1 For I have hoped in thy words. 1
75I know, O Lord, that thy judgments are righteousness, 1 And that thou in truthfulness hast afflicted me. 1
76Let, I pray thee, thy mercy be to comfort me, 1 According to thy word to thy servant. 1
77Let thy compassions come to me, that I may live: 1 For thy law is my meditation. 1
78Let the proud be ashamed; for they transgressed against me unjustly: 1 But I will meditate in thy commandments. 1
79Let those that fear thee, 1 And those that know thy testimonies, turn to me. 1
80Let my heart be blameless in thine ordinances, 1 That I may not be ashamed. 1
81My soul faints for thy salvation: 1 I have hoped in thy words. 1
82Mine eyes failed in waiting for thy word, 1 Saying, When wilt thou comfort me? 1
83For I am become as a bottle in the frost: 1 Yet I have not forgotten thine ordinances. 1
84How many are the days of thy servant? 1 When wilt thou execute judgment for me on them that persecute me? 1
85Transgressors told me idle tales; 1 But not according to thy law, O Lord. 1
86All thy commandments are truth; 1 They persecuted me unjustly; help thou me. 1
87They nearly made an end of me in the earth; 1 But I forsook not thy commandments. 1
88Quicken me according to thy mercy; 1 So shall I keep the testimonies of thy mouth. 1
89Thy word, O Lord, 1 Abides in heaven forever. 1
90Thy truth endures to all generations; 1 Thou hast founded the earth, and it abides. 1
91The day continues by thy arrangement; 1 For all things are thy servants. 1
92Were it not that thy law is my meditation, 1 Then I should have perished in mine affliction. 1
93I will never forget thine ordinances; 1 For with them thou hast quickened me. 1
94I am thine, save me; 1 For I have sought out thine ordinances. 1
95Sinners laid wait for me to destroy me; 1 But I understood thy testimonies. 1
96I have seen an end of all perfection; 1 But thy commandment is very broad. 1
97How I have loved thy law, O Lord! 1 It is my meditation all the day. 1
98Thou hast made me wiser than mine enemies in thy commandment; 1 For it is mine forever. 1
99I have more understanding than all my teachers; 1 For thy testimonies are my meditation. 1
100I understand more than the aged; 1 Because I have sought out thy commandments. 1
101I have kept back my feet from every evil way, 1 That I might keep thy words. 1
102I have not declined from thy judgments; 1 For thou hast instructed me. 1
103How sweet are thine oracles to my throat! 1 More so than honey to my mouth! 1
104I gain understanding by thy commandments: 1 Therefore I have hated every way of unrighteousness. 1
105Thy law is a lamp to my feet, 1 And a light to my paths. 1
106I have sworn and determined 1 To keep the judgments of thy righteousness. 1
107I have been very greatly afflicted, O Lord: 1 Quicken me, according to thy word. 1
108Accept, I pray thee, O Lord, the freewill offerings of my mouth, 1 And teach me thy judgments. 1
109My soul is continually in thy hands; 1 And I have not forgotten thy law. 1
110Sinners spread a snare for me; 1 But I erred not from thy commandments. 1
111I have inherited thy testimonies forever; 1 For they are the joy of my heart. 1
112I have inclined my heart to perform thine ordinances forever, 1 In return for thy mercies. 1
113I have hated transgressors; 1 But I have loved thy law. 1
114Thou art my helper and my supporter; 1 I have hoped in thy words. 1
115Depart from me, ye evildoers; 1 For I will search out the commandments of my God. 1
116Uphold me according to thy word, and quicken me; 1 And make me not ashamed of my expectation. 1
117Help me, and I shall be saved; 1 And I will meditate in thine ordinances continually. 1
118Thou hast brought to nought all that depart from thine ordinances; 1 For their inward thought is unrighteous. 1
119I have reckoned all the sinners of the earth as transgressors; 1 Therefore have I loved thy testimonies. 1
120Penetrate my flesh with thy fear; 1 For I am afraid of thy judgments. 1
121I have done judgment and justice; 1 Deliver me not up to them that injure me. 1
122Receive thy servant for good: 1 Let not the proud accuse me falsely. 1
123Mine eyes have failed for thy salvation, 1 And for the word of thy righteousness. 1
124Deal with thy servant according to thy mercy, 1 And teach me thine ordinances. 1
125I am thy servant; instruct me, 1 And I shall know thy testimonies. 1
126It is time for the Lord to work: 1 They have utterly broken thy law. 1
127Therefore have I loved thy commandments 1 More than gold, or the topaz. 1
128Therefore I directed myself according to all thy commandments: 1 I have hated every unjust way. 1
129Thy testimonies are wonderful: 1 Therefore my soul has sought them out. 1
130The manifestation of thy words will enlighten, 1 And instruct the simple. 1
131I opened my mouth, and drew breath: 1 For I earnestly longed after thy commandments. 1
132Look upon me and have mercy upon me, 1 After the manner of them that love thy name. 1
133Order my steps according to thy word: 1 And let not any iniquity have dominion over me. 1
134Deliver me from the false accusation of men: 1 So will I keep thy commandments. 1
135Cause thy face to shine upon thy servant: 1 And teach me thine ordinances. 1
136Mine eyes have been bathed in streams of water, 1 Because I kept not thy law. 1
137Righteous art thou, O Lord, 1 And upright are thy judgments. 1
138Thou hast commanded righteousness and perfect truth, 1 As thy testimonies. 1
139Thy zeal has quite wasted me: 1 Because mine enemies have forgotten thy words. 1
140Thy word has been very fully tried; 1 And thy servant loves it. 1
141I am young and despised: 1 Yet I have not forgotten thine ordinances. 1
142Thy righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, 1 And thy law is truth. 1
143Afflictions and distresses found me: 1 But thy commandments were my meditation. 1
144Thy testimonies are an everlasting righteousness: 1 Instruct me, and I shall live. 1
145I cried with my whole heart; hear me, O Lord: 1 I will search out thine ordinances. 1
146I cried to thee; save me, 1 And I will keep thy testimonies. 1
147I arose before the dawn, and cried: 1 I hoped in thy words. 1
148Mine eyes prevented the dawn, 1 That I might meditate on thine oracles. 1
149Hear my voice, O Lord, according to thy mercy; 1 Quicken me according to thy judgment. 1
150They have drawn nigh who persecuted me unlawfully; 1 And they are far removed from thy law. 1
151Thou art near, O Lord; 1 And all thy ways are truth. 1
152I have known of old concerning thy testimonies, 1 That thou hast founded them forever. 1
153Look upon mine affliction, and rescue me; 1 For I have not forgotten thy law. 1
154Plead my cause, and ransom me: 1 Quicken me because of thy word. 1
155Salvation is far from sinners: 1 For they have not searched out thine ordinances. 1
156Thy mercies, O Lord, are many: 1 Quicken me according to thy judgment. 1
157Many are they that persecute me and oppress me: 1 But I have not declined from thy testimonies. 1
158I beheld men acting foolishly, and I pined away; 1 For they kept not thine oracles. 1
159Behold, I have loved thy commandments, O Lord: 1 Quicken me in thy mercy. 1
160The beginning of thy words is truth; 1 And all the judgments of thy righteousness endure forever. 1
161Princes persecuted me without a cause, 1 But my heart feared because of thy words. 1
162I will exult because of thine oracles, 1 As one that finds much spoil. 1
163I hate and abhor unrighteousness; 1 But I love thy law. 1
164Seven times in a day have I praised thee 1 Because of the judgments of thy righteousness. 1
165Great peace have they that love thy law: 1 And there is no stumbling block to them. 1
166I waited for thy salvation, O Lord, 1 And have loved thy commandments. 1
167My soul has kept thy testimonies, 1 And loved them exceedingly. 1
168I have kept thy commandments and thy testimonies; 1 For all my ways are before thee, O Lord. 1
169Let my supplication come near before thee, O Lord; 1 Instruct me according to thine oracle. 1
170Let my petition come in before thee, O Lord; 1 Deliver me according to thine oracle. 1
171Let my lips utter a hymn, 1 When thou shalt have taught me thine ordinances. 1
172Let my tongue utter thine oracles; 1 For all thy commandments are righteous. 1
173Let thy hand be prompt to save me; 1 For I have chosen thy commandments. 1
174I have longed after thy salvation, O Lord; 1 And thy law is my meditation. 1
175My soul shall live, and shall praise thee; 1 And thy judgments shall help me. 1
176I have gone astray like a lost sheep; 1 Seek thy servant; for I have not forgotten thy commandments.
