Psalms 142
A Psalm of David, when his son pursued him. 1 O Lord, attend to my prayer: 1 Hearken to my supplication in thy truth; 1 Hear me in thy righteousness. 1
And enter not into judgment with thy servant, 1 For in thy sight shall no man living be justified. 1
For the enemy has persecuted my soul; 1 He has brought my life down to the ground; 1 He has made me to dwell in a dark place, as those that have been long dead. 1
Therefore my spirit was grieved in me; 1 My heart was troubled within me. 1
I remembered the days of old; 1 And I meditated on all thy doings: 1 Yea, I meditated on the works of thy hands. 1
I spread forth my hands to thee; 1 My soul thirsts for thee, as a dry land. Pause. 1
Hear me speedily, O Lord; 1 My spirit has failed; 1 Turn not away thy face from me, 1 Else I shall be like to them that go down to the pit. 1
Cause me to hear thy mercy in the morning; 1 For I have hoped in thee; 1 Make known to me, O Lord, the way wherein I should walk; 1 For I have lifted up my soul to thee. 1
Deliver me from mine enemies, O Lord; 1 For I have fled to thee for refuge. 1
Teach me to do thy will; for thou art my God; 1 Thy good Spirit shall guide me in the straight way. 1
Thou shalt quicken me, O Lord, for thy name’s sake; 1 In thy righteousness thou shalt bring my soul out of affliction. 1
And in thy mercy thou wilt destroy mine enemies, 1 And wilt destroy all those that afflict my soul; 1 For I am thy servant.
