Psalms 16
A Prayer of David. 1 Hearken, O Lord of my righteousness, 1 Attend to my petition; 1 Give ear to my prayer not uttered with deceitful lips. 1
Let my judgment come forth from thy presence; 1 Let mine eyes behold righteousness. 1
Thou hast proved my heart; thou hast visited me by night; 1 Thou hast tried me as with fire, and unrighteousness has not been found in me: 1 I am purposed that my mouth shall not speak amiss. 1
As for the works of men, by the words of thy lips I have guarded myself from hard ways. 1
Direct my steps in thy paths, 1 That my steps slip not. 1
I have cried, for thou heardest me, O God: 1 Incline thine ear to me, and hearken to my words. 1
Show the marvels of thy mercies, 1 Thou that savest them that hope in thee. 1
Keep me as the apple of the eye 1 From those that resist thy right hand: 1 Thou shalt screen me by the covering of thy wings, 1
From the face of the ungodly that have afflicted me: 1 Mine enemies have compassed about my soul. 1
They have enclosed themselves with their own fat: 1 Their mouth has spoken pride. 1
They have now cast me out and compassed me round about: 1 They have set their eyes so as to bow them down to the ground. 1
They laid wait for me as a lion ready for prey, 1 And like a lion’s whelp dwelling in secret places. 1
Arise, O Lord, prevent them, and cast them down: 1 Deliver my soul from the ungodly: 1 Draw thy sword,
because of the enemies of thy hand: 1 O Lord, destroy them from the earth; 1 Scatter them in their life, 1 Though their belly has been filled with thy hidden treasures: 1 They have been satisfied with uncleanness, 1 And have left the remnant of their possessions to their babes. 1
But I shall appear in righteousness before thy face: 1 I shall be satisfied when thy glory appears.
