Psalms 26
1A Psalm of David, before he was anointed. 1 The Lord is my light and my Savior; whom shall I fear? 1 The Lord is the defender of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? 1
2When evildoers drew nigh against me to eat up my flesh, 1 My persecutors and mine enemies, they fainted and fell. 1
3Though an army should set itself in array against me, my heart shall not be afraid: 1 Though war should rise up against me, in this am I confident. 1
4One thing have I asked of the Lord, this will I earnestly seek: 1 That I should dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, 1 That I should behold the fair beauty of the Lord, 1 And survey his temple. 1
5For in the day of mine afflictions he hid me in his tabernacle: 1 He sheltered me in the secret of his tabernacle; 1 He set me up on a rock. 1
6And now, behold, he has lifted up my head over mine enemies: 1 I went round and offered in his tabernacle the sacrifice of joy; 1 I will sing, even sing psalms to the Lord. 1
7Hear, O Lord, my voice which I have uttered aloud: 1 Pity me, and hearken to me. 1
8My heart said to thee, I have diligently sought thy face: 1 Thy face, O Lord, I will seek. 1
9Turn not thy face away from me, 1 Turn not thou away from thy servant in anger: 1 Be thou my helper, forsake me not; 1 And, O God my Savior, overlook me not. 1
10For my father and my mother have forsaken me, 1 But the Lord has taken me to himself. 1
11Teach me, O Lord, in thy way, 1 And guide me in a right path, because of mine enemies. 1
12Deliver me not over to the desire of them that afflict me; 1 For unjust witnesses have risen up against me, 1 And injustice has lied within herself. 1
13I believe that I shall see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. 1
14Wait on the Lord: 1 Be of good courage, and let thy heart be strengthened: 1 Yea, wait on the Lord.
