Psalms 30
For the end, a Psalm of David, an utterance of extreme fear. 1
O Lord, I have hoped in thee; let me never be ashamed: 1 Deliver me in thy righteousness and rescue me. 1
Incline thine ear to me; 1 Make haste to rescue me: 1 Be thou to me for a protecting God, 1 And for a house of refuge to save me. 1
For thou art my strength and my refuge; 1 And thou shalt guide me for thy name’s sake, and maintain me. 1
Thou shalt bring me out of the snare which they have hidden for me; 1 For thou, O Lord, art my defender. 1
Into thy hands I will commit my spirit: 1 Thou hast redeemed me, O Lord God of truth. 1
Thou hast hated them that idly persist in vanities: 1 But I have hoped in the Lord. 1
I will exult and be glad in thy mercy: 1 For thou hast looked upon mine affliction; 1 Thou hast saved my soul from distresses. 1
And thou hast not shut me up into the hands of the enemy: 1 Thou hast set my feet in a wide place. 1
Pity me, O Lord, for I am afflicted: 1 My eye is troubled with indignation, 1 My soul and my belly. 1
For my life is spent with grief, 1 And my years with groanings: 1 My strength has been weakened through poverty, 1 And my bones are troubled. 1
I became a reproach among all mine enemies, 1 But exceedingly so to my neighbors, 1 And a fear to mine acquaintance: 1 They that saw me without fled from me. 1
I have been forgotten as a dead man out of mind: 1 I am become as a broken vessel. 1
For I heard the slander of many that dwelt round about: 1 When they were gathered together against me, 1 They took counsel to take my life. 1
But I hoped in thee, O Lord: 1 I said, Thou art my God. 1
My lots are in thy hands: 1 Deliver me from the hand of mine enemies, 1
And from them that persecute me. 1 Make thy face to shine upon thy servant: 1 Save me in thy mercy. 1
O Lord, let me not be ashamed, for I have called upon thee: 1 Let the ungodly be ashamed, and brought down to Hades. 1
Let the deceitful lips become dumb, 1 Which speak iniquity against the righteous 1 With pride and scorn. 1
How abundant is the multitude of thy goodness, O Lord, 1 Which thou hast laid up for them that fear thee! 1 Thou hast wrought it out for them that hope on thee, 1 In the presence of the sons of men. 1
Thou wilt hide them in the secret of thy presence from the vexation of man: 1 Thou wilt screen them in a tabernacle from the contradiction of tongues. 1
Blessed be the Lord: for he has magnified his mercy in a fortified city. 1
But I said in my extreme fear, 1 I am cast out from the sight of thine eyes: 1 Therefore thou didst hearken, O Lord, to the voice of my supplication 1 When I cried to thee. 1
Love the Lord, all ye his saints: 1 For the Lord seeks for truth, 1 And renders a reward to them that deal very proudly. 1
Be of good courage, and let your heart be strengthened, 1 All ye that hope in the Lord.
