Psalms 36
1A Psalm of David. 1 Fret not thyself because of evildoers, 1 Neither be envious of them that do iniquity. 1
2For they shall soon be withered as the grass, 1 And shall soon fall away as the green herbs. 1
3Hope in the Lord, and do good; 1 And dwell on the land, and thou shalt be fed with the wealth of it. 1
4Delight thyself in the Lord; 1 And he shall grant thee the requests of thy heart. 1
5Disclose thy way to the Lord, 1 And hope in him; and he shall bring it to pass. 1
6And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, 1 And thy judgment as the noonday. 1
7Submit thyself to the Lord, and supplicate him: 1 Fret not thyself because of him that prospers in his way, 1 At the man that does unlawful deeds. 1
8Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: 1 Fret not thyself so as to do evil. 1
9For evildoers shall be destroyed: 1 But they that wait on the Lord, they shall inherit the land. 1
10And yet a little while, and the sinner shall not be, 1 And thou shalt seek for his place, and shalt not find it. 1
11But the meek shall inherit the earth; 1 And shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace. 1
12The sinner will watch for the righteous, 1 And gnash his teeth upon him. 1
13But the Lord shall laugh at him: 1 For he foresees that his day will come. 1
14Sinners have drawn their swords, 1 They have bent their bow, 1 To cast down the poor and needy one, 1 And to slay the upright in heart. 1
15Let their sword enter into their own heart, 1 And their bows be broken. 1
16A little is better to the righteous 1 Than abundant wealth of sinners. 1
17For the arms of sinners shall be broken; 1 But the Lord supports the righteous. 1
18The Lord knows the ways of the perfect; 1 And their inheritance shall be forever. 1
19They shall not be ashamed in an evil time; 1 And in days of famine they shall be satisfied. 1
20For the sinners shall perish; 1 And the enemies of the Lord at the moment of their being honored and exalted 1 Have utterly vanished like smoke. 1
21The sinner borrows, and will not pay again: 1 But the righteous has compassion, and gives. 1
22For they that bless him shall inherit the earth; 1 And they that curse him shall be utterly destroyed. 1
23The steps of a man are rightly ordered by the Lord: 1 And he will take pleasure in his way. 1
24When he falls, he shall not be ruined: 1 For the Lord supports his hand. 1
25I was once young, indeed I am now old; 1 Yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, 1 Nor his seed seeking bread. 1
26He is merciful, and lends continually; 1 And his seed shall be blessed. 1
27Turn aside from evil, and do good; 1 And dwell forever. 1
28For the Lord loves judgment, 1 And will not forsake his saints; 1 They shall be preserved forever: 1 The blameless shall be avenged, 1 But the seed of the ungodly shall be utterly destroyed. 1
29But the righteous shall inherit the earth, 1 And dwell upon it forever. 1
30The mouth of the righteous will meditate wisdom, 1 And his tongue will speak of judgment. 1
31The law of his God is in his heart; 1 And his steps shall not slide. 1
32The sinner watches the righteous, 1 And seeks to slay him. 1
33But the Lord will not leave him in his hands, 1 Nor by any means condemn him when he is judged. 1
34Wait on the Lord, and keep his way, 1 And he shall exalt thee to inherit the land: 1 When the wicked are destroyed, thou shalt see it. 1
35I saw the ungodly very highly exalting himself, 1 And lifting himself up like the cedars of Lebanon. 1
36Yet I passed by, and lo! he was not: 1 And I sought him, but his place was not found. 1
37Maintain innocence, and behold uprightness: 1 For there is a remnant to the peaceable man. 1
38But the transgressors shall be utterly destroyed together: 1 The remnants of the ungodly shall be utterly destroyed. 1
39But the salvation of the righteous is of the Lord; 1 And he is their defender in the time of affliction. 1
40And the Lord shall help them, and deliver them: 1 And he shall rescue them from sinners, 1 And save them, because they have hoped in him.
