Psalms 47
A Psalm of praise for the sons of Korah on the second day of the week. 1
Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised 1 In the city of our God, in his holy mountain. 1
The city of the great King 1 Is well planted on the mountains of Zion, 1 With the joy of the whole earth, on the sides of the north. 1
God is known in her palaces, 1 When he undertakes to help her. 1
For, behold, the kings of the earth were assembled, 1 They came together. 1
They saw, and so they wondered: 1 They were troubled, they were moved. 1
Trembling took hold on them: 1 There were the pangs as of a woman in travail. 1
Thou wilt break the ships of Tarshish with a vehement wind. 1
As we have heard, so have we also seen, 1 In the city of the Lord of hosts, 1 In the city of our God: 1 God has founded it forever. Pause. 1
We have thought of thy mercy, O God, 1 In the midst of thy people. 1
According to thy name, O God, 1 So is also thy praise to the ends of the earth: 1 Thy right hand is full of righteousness. 1
Let Mount Zion rejoice, 1 Let the daughters of Judea exult, 1 Because of thy judgments, O Lord. 1
Go round about Zion, and encompass her: 1 Tell ye her towers. 1
Mark ye well her strength, 1 And observe her palaces; 1 That ye may tell the next generation. 1
For this is our God forever and ever: 1 He will be our guide for evermore.
