Psalms 53

1For the end, among the Hymns of instruction by David,

2when the Ziphites came and said to Saul, Lo, is not David hidden with us? 1

3Save me, O God, by thy name, 1 And judge me by thy might. 1

4O God, hear my prayer; 1 Hearken to the words of my mouth. 1

5For strangers have risen up against me, 1 And mighty men have sought my life: 1 They have not set God before them. Pause. 1

6For lo! God assists me; 1 And the Lord is the helper of my soul. 1

7He shall return evil to mine enemies; 1 Utterly destroy them in thy truth. 1

8I will willingly sacrifice to thee: 1 I will give thanks to thy name, O Lord; for it is good. 1

9For thou hast delivered me out of all affliction, 1 And mine eye has seen my desire upon mine enemies.
