Saul said, “It’s all right. Don’t be frightened. What can you see?” She said, “I can see a spirit coming out of the ground here.”

And the king said unto her, Be not afraid: for what sawest thou? And the woman said unto Saul, I saw gods ascending out of the earth.

In Context

12Then she talked to Samuel’s spirit, and he came to her. As soon as she saw him, she was frightened and yelled at Saul, “You tricked me. You are Saul.”

14Saul asked, “What does it look like?” She said, “It’s an old man wearing long clothes.” Saul knew it was Samuel, and he got down on his knees and put his face near the ground to show respect to that spirit.
