And the young men that were grown up with him spake unto him, saying, Thus shalt thou speak unto this people that spake unto thee, saying, Thy father made our yoke heavy, but make thou it lighter unto us; thus shalt thou say unto them, My little finger shall be thicker than my father’s loins.

9He said to them, “What should I say to the men who are asking me to reduce the work and taxes that my father required from them?”

11What I mean is that my father required you to work hard and pay high taxes. But I will make those loads heavier. It was as though my father whipped you, but it will be as though I will whip you with whips that have pieces of metal in them.’”
