Then the chief captain came near, and took him, and commanded him to be bound with two chains; and demanded who he was, and what he had done.

32At once he took soldiers and centurions and ran down to them. When the mob saw the commander and the soldiers, they stopped beating Paul.

34But some in the crowd were shouting one thing, and some were shouting another, and since the commander could not find out any reliable information because of the uproar, he ordered Paul to be taken away to the barracks.
