Le commandant répondit: « J'ai acquis cette citoyenneté à grand prix.» Paul répondit: « Mais moi, je suis citoyen romain de naissance.»

29Aussitôt, ceux qui allaient l'interroger s'éloignèrent de lui. Le commandant lui-même prit peur en apprenant que Paul était citoyen romain, car il l'avait fait enchaîner.
