וַיִּקַּח מַקְלוֹ בְּיָדוֹ וַיִּבְחַר ־ לוֹ חֲמִשָּׁה חַלֻּקֵֽי ־ אֲבָנִים ׀ מִן ־ הַנַּחַל וַיָּשֶׂם אֹתָם בִּכְלִי הָרֹעִים אֲשֶׁר ־ לוֹ וּבַיַּלְקוּט וְקַלְּעוֹ בְיָדוֹ וַיִּגַּשׁ אֶל ־ הַפְּלִשְׁתִּֽי ׃
