നഗരത്തിൽനിന്ന് അവൻ പടയാളികളുടെ മേൽവിചാരകനായ ഒരു ഷണ്ഡനെയും നഗരത്തിൽവച്ച് കണ്ടെത്തിയ രാജപരിചാരകന്മാരിൽ അഞ്ചുപേരെയും ദേശത്തെ ജനത്തിൽനിന്ന് പടയാളികളെ തെരഞ്ഞെടുക്കുന്ന സേനാപതിയുടെ കൊട്ടാരം കാര്യസ്ഥനെയും നഗരത്തിൽ കണ്ട മറ്റ് അറുപതുപേരെയും പിടിച്ചു കൊണ്ടുപോയി.
