നദിയിലെ വെള്ളം കുടിക്കുവാൻ യോഗ്യമല്ലാത്തതുകൊണ്ട് മിസ്രയീമ്യർ എല്ലാവരും കുടിക്കുവാൻ വെള്ളത്തിനായി നദിക്കരയിൽ പലയിടത്തും കുഴികൾ കുഴിച്ചു.
