[ edit] And it was don in þat tyme, þat Amraphel, þe kyng of Sennaer, and Aryoþ, þe kyng of Ponty, and Chodorlaomor, þe kyng of Elemytarum, and Thadal, kyng of folc of kynd, ȝeden into a batail aȝens Bara, þe kyng of Sodom, and aȝens Berſa, þe kyng of Gomor, and aȝens Sennaar, þe kyng of Adame, and aȝens Sebamar, þe kyng of Soboym, and aȝens þe kyng of Bale, þat is, of Segor. Alle þes comen to gidre into þe wodi valey, þe which now is þe ſee of ſalt. Forſoþe twelue ȝeer þei ſerueden to Chodorlaomor, and þe þrettenþe ȝeer þei ȝede awey fro hym.

Þerfor þe fourtenþe ȝeer com Chodorlaomor, and þe kyngis þat weren wiþ hym, and ſmytyn Raphaym in Aſtaroþ, Carnaym, and Zuzym wiþ hem, and Emim in Sabe Chariaþaim, and Chorreos in þe hillis Seher, vnto þe feeldy placis of Pharam, þat is in wildernes. And þei weren turned aȝen, and comen vnto þe welle of Meſphat; it is of Cades. And þei ſmyten al þe regioun of Amalechitis, and Amorre, þe whiche dwellid in Aſaſon of Thamar.

And þe kyng of Sodom, and þe kyng of Gomorre, and þe kyng of Adame, and þe kyng of Soboym, alſo and þe kyng of Bale, þat is of Segor, ȝeden out, and þei dreſſiden aȝens hem ſheltrun in þe wodi valey, þat is, aȝens Chodorlaomor, kyng of Elamytarum, and Thadal, kyng of folk of kynde, and Amraphel, þe kyng of Sennaar, and Arioþ, þe kyng of Ponty; foure kynges aȝens fyue. Þe wodi valei forſoþe had manye pyttis of gluwy cley; and ſo þe kyng of Sodom and of Gomor turneden backis and fellen þere; and þo þat laften flowen to þe hil.

Forſoþe þei token al þe ſubſtaunce of Sodom and of Gomor, and alle þingis þat parteyneden to mete, and ȝeden awey; alſo and Loþ, þe ſone of þe broþer of Abram, þe which dwellid in Sodom, and þe ſubſtaunce of hym. And lo! oon þat aſcapide, toolde to Abram Ebrew, þe which dwellid in valey of Mambre of Amorey, broþer of Eſcol, and broþer of Aner; þes forſoþe hadden couenauntid bond of pees wiþ Abram. Þe which whanne Abram had herd, þat is, Loþ his broþer takun, he noumbride þre hundrid ten and eiȝt men of his own howſhold redi, and he purſuede hem vnto Dan.

And, his felows dyuydid, he felle vpon hem in þe nyȝt, and he ſmoot hem, and he purſuede hem vnto Saba, and Phenyſem, þe which is at þe left ſide of Damaſk. And he brouȝte aȝen al þe ſubſtaunce, and Loþ his broþer wiþ þe ſubſtaunce of hym, and wymmen and puple. Forſoþe þe kyng of Sodom ȝede out into þe aȝen-goyng of hym, after þat he was aȝen turned fro þe ſlawȝtir of Chodorlaomor, and of þe kyngis þat weren wiþ hym, in þe valey of Sabe, þe which is þe valey of þe kyng.

And forſoþe Melchiſadech, þe kyng of Salem, bryngynge forþ breed and wyne, forſoþe he was þe preſt of þe heiȝeſt God, bliſſide to hym, and ſeide, Bliſſid be Abram to þe heye God, þe which maad of nouȝt heuene and erþe, and þe heye God be bliſſid, whom defendynge, þe enemyes ben takun in þin hondis. And he ȝaue hym dymes of alle þingis. Forſoþe þe kyng of Sodom ſeide to Abram, Ȝyue me þe ſowlis; oþre þingis take to þee.

Þe which anſweride hym, I heeue vp myn hond to þe Lord, þe heye God, welder of heuene and erþe, þat fro a þreed of þe weeft vnto a garter of an hoos I ſhal not take of alle þingis þat ben þin, leſt þow ſeye, I haue maad Abram ryche; out take þes þingis þat ȝong men han etun, and þe partyſe of men þat camen wiþ me, Aner, Eſchol, and Mambre; þes ſhulen take þere partyes.
