[ edit] And Sara lyuyde an hundrid and ſeuen and twenti ȝeer, and ſhe was deed in þe citee of Arbee, þat is Ebron, in þe loond of Chanaan; and Abraham cam, þat he myȝte weyl and wepe hir. And whanne he was ryſun fro þe office of þe deed cors, he ſpake to þe ſonys of Heþ, ſeiynge, A comelyng and a pilgrime I am anentis ȝow; ȝyue ȝe to me ryȝt of a biryyng place wiþ ȝow, þat I mow biry ynne my deed. And þe ſones of Heþ anſweriden, ſeiynge, Lord, here vs; þe prince of God þow art anentis vs; in oure choſun berielis birye þi deed, and no man ſhal mow wern þee, but in þe monument of hym þow byrye þi deed. And Abraham aroos, and lowtide þe puple of þe erþe, þe ſones, þat is, of Heþ.

And he ſeide to hem, If it pleſe to ȝoure ſoule þat I byrye my deed, here ȝe me, and preye ȝe for me anentis Ephron, þe ſone of Seor, þat he ȝyue to me þe dowble ſpelunk, or caue, þat he haþ in þe vttermore party of his feeld; for þe worþ of money take he it to me bifore ȝow into poſſeſſioun of a ſepulcre. Ephron forſoþe dwellid in þe myddil of þe ſones of Heþ. And Ephron anſweryde to Abraham, alle men herynge þe which ȝede into þe ȝaat of þe cite of hym, ſeiynge, My lord, ſo ſhal it not be, but þow more herkyn þat I ſpeke; þe feeld I take to þee, and þe ſpelunk þat is in yt, preſent þe ſonys of my puple; birye þi deed.

Abraham lowtide bifore þe Lord, and þe puple of þe loond, and ſpake to Ephron, ſtondynge aboute þe folk of hym, I biſeche, þat þow here me; I ſhal ȝyue money for þe feeld, take it, and ſo Y ſhal birye my deed in þe feeld. And Ephron anſweryde, My lord, here me, þe erþe þat þow aſkiſt is worþ foure hundryd ſicles of ſiluer, þis is þe pryis bitwix me and þee, but what is þat? birye þi deed. Þe which whanne Abraham had herd, he peyſide þe money þat Ephron had aſkyd, herynge þe ſonys of Heþ, foure hundrid ſiclys of ſiluer, and of preued comune money.

And þe feeld ſumtyme of Ephron, in þe which was þe dowble ſpelunk, biholdynge to Mambre, as wel it as þe ſpelunk and alle þe trees of it, in alle þe termes of it bi enuyroun, is confermyd to Abraham into poſſeſſioun, ſeynge þe ſones of Heþ and alle þat entreden þe ȝate of þe cite of hym. And ſo Abraham byriede his wijf Sara in þe dowble ſpelunk of þe feeld, þe which bihelde Mambre; þat is Ebron in þe londe of Chanaan. And þe feeld is confermed, and þe pit þat was in it, to Abraham, into poſſeſſyoun of a monument, of þe ſones of Heþ.
