[ edit] Thanne Eliu þeſe þingus eft ſpac, Wheþir euene to þee ſeme þi þoȝt, þat þou ſhuldeſt ſeyn, I am mor riȝtwis þan God? Þou ſeideſt forſoþe, It pleſeþ not to þee, þat is good; or what to þee ſhal profite, if I ſhul ſynnen? Alſo I ſhal anſwern to þi woordis, and to þi frendis wiþ þee. Behold heuene, and loke, and myndefulli ſee þe cloudis, þat is heȝere þan þou. If þou ſhalt ſynnen, what ſhalt þou noȝe to hym? and if þi wickidneſſes be multiplied, what ſhalt þou don aȝen hym? But if þou ſhalt do riȝtwiſli, what ſhalt þou ȝiue to hym; or what of þin hond he ſhal take? To man þat is lic þee, þin vnpitouſneſſe ſhal noȝe; and þe ſone of man þi riȝtwiſneſſe ſhal helpe.
For þe multitude of chalengeres þei ſhul crie, and ȝelle out for þe fors of þe arm of tirauntis. And he ſeide not, Where is God, þat made me, and þat ȝaf ditees in þe nyȝt? Þat techeþ vs ouer þe beſtis of þe erþe, ouer þe foulis of heuene ſhal lernen vs. Þere þei ſhul crie, and he ſhal not heren, for þe pride of euele men. Forſoþe not in veyn God ſhal heren, and þe Almyȝti beholde ſhal þe cauſis of alle men. Alſo whan þou ſhal ſein, He beholdiþ not; be þou demed beforn hym, and abid hym. Now forſoþe he bringeþ not in his wodneſſe, ne þe hydous gilte is vengid gretli. Þanne Job in vein openede his mouþ, and wiþoute kunnynge woordis multiplieþ.
