Benaía fue al santuario y le dijo: “El rey ordena que salgas de ahí”. Pero Joab respondió: “No, aquí mismo voy a morir”. Benaía fue y le informó al rey lo que Joab había dicho.

29Le avisaron a Salomón: “Joab huyó al santuario de Yahvé y está allí, junto al altar”. Entonces Salomón mandó a Benaía hijo de Joyadá con esta orden: “¡Ve y mátalo!”.

31El rey le ordenó: “Haz lo que él dice: mátalo allí mismo y sepúltalo. Así quitarás de mí y de mi familia la culpa por la sangre que Joab derramó injustamente.
