ยาโคบก็แยกลูกแกะและให้ฝูงแพะแกะนั้นอยู่ตรงหน้าแกะที่​มี​​ลาย​ และแกะดำทุกตัวในฝูงของลาบัน ​แต่​ฝูงแพะแกะของตนนั้นอยู่​ต่างหาก​ ​ไม่​​ให้​ปะปนกับฝูงสัตว์ของลาบัน
