Joel 3
Behold, in those days and at that time, 1 when I return the exiles of Judah and Jerusalem, 1
I will gather all the nations, 1 and bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat. 1 I will judge them there, 1 because of my people and my inheritance Israel, 1 whom they scattered among the nations, 1 and because they divided up my land. 1
They cast lots for my people, 1 traded a boy for a prostitute, 1 and sold a girl for wine 1 so they could drink. 1
Now, why are you angry at me, 1 Tyre, Sidon and all the regions of Philistia? 1 Will you repay me? 1 Even if you do repay me, 1 I will immediately return your retribution on your own head. 1
For you took my silver and my gold, 1 and you brought my precious treasures into your temples. 1
You sold the people of Judah and Jerusalem to the Greeks, 1 in order to remove them far from their territory. 1
Look, I am about to stir them up, out of the place where you sold them, 1 and will return payment on your own head. 1
I will sell your sons and your daughters, 1 by the hand of the people of Judah. 1 They will sell them to the Sabeans, 1 to a nation far off, 1 for Yahweh has spoken.” 1
Proclaim this among the nations, 1 “Prepare yourselves for war, 1 rouse the mighty men, 1 let them come near, 1 let all the men of battle come up. 1
Beat your plowshares into swords 1 and your pruning knives into spears. 1 Let the weak say, 1 'I am strong.' 1
Hurry and come, 1 all you nearby nations, 1 gather yourselves together there. Yahweh, bring down your mighty warriors. 1
Let the nations wake themselves up 1 and come up to the Valley of Jehoshaphat. 1 For there will I sit to judge 1 all the surrounding nations. 1
Put in the sickle, 1 for the harvest is ripe. 1 Come, crush the grapes, 1 for the winepress is full. 1 The vats overflow, 1 for their wickedness is enormous.” 1
There is a tumult, a tumult in the Valley of Judgment. 1 For the day of Yahweh is near in the Valley of Judgment. 1
The sun and the moon become dark, 1 the stars keep back their brightness. 1
Yahweh will roar from Zion, 1 and raise his voice from Jerusalem. 1 The heavens and earth will shake, 1 but Yahweh will be a shelter for his people, 1 and a fortress for the people of Israel. 1
“So you will know that I am Yahweh your God 1 who lives in Zion, my holy mountain. 1 Then Jerusalem will be holy, 1 and no army will march through her again. 1
It will come about on that day 1 that the mountains will drip with sweet wine, 1 the hills will flow with milk, 1 all the brooks of Judah will flow with water, 1 and a fountain will come from the house of Yahweh 1 and water the Valley of Shittim. 1
Egypt will become an abandoned devastation, 1 and Edom will become an abandoned wilderness, 1 because of the violence done to the people of Judah, 1 because they shed innocent blood in their land. 1
But Judah will be inhabited forever, 1 and Jerusalem will be inhabited from generation to generation. 1
I will avenge their blood that I have not yet avenged, 1 for Yahweh lives in Zion.”
