וַיַּעַן שְׁכַנְיָה בֶן ־ יְחִיאֵל מִבְּנֵי עולם וַיֹּאמֶר לְעֶזְרָא אֲנַחְנוּ מָעַלְנוּ בֵאלֹהֵינוּ וַנֹּשֶׁב נָשִׁים נָכְרִיּוֹת מֵעַמֵּי הָאָרֶץ וְעַתָּה יֵשׁ ־ מִקְוֶה לְיִשְׂרָאֵל עַל ־ זֹֽאת ׃
