[ edit] Anſwerende forſoþe Job ſeide, Whos helpere art þou? wheþer feble, and ſuſteneſt þe arm of hym, þat is not ſtrong? To whom haſt þou ȝiue counſeil? Perauenture to hym þat haþ no wiſdam; and myche prudence þou haſt ſhewid. Or whom woldeſt þou techen? wheþer not hym, þat made ſpace of breþing? Lo! ieauntis weilen vnder watris, and þat duellen wiþ hem. Nakid is helle beforn hym, and no coueryng is to perdicioun. He þat ſtreccheþ out þe norþ vp on vein, and hangeþ vp þe erþe vp on noȝt. Þat bindeþ watris in his cloudis, þat þei breke not out togidere dounward. Þat holdeþ þe chere of his ſete, and ſtreccheþ out vp on it his cloude.

Þe terme he enuyrounde wiþ watris, vn to þe time þat ben fynyſht liȝt and dercneſſis. Þe pileris of heuene togidere quaken, and dreden at his bek. In þe ſtrengþe of hym feerli ſes ben gedered, and þe prudence of hym ſmot þe proude man. His ſpirit ournede heuenes, and his hond liȝtli ledende out, þe eche ſide krokende eddere is led out. Lo! a part ben ſeid of his weies; and whan vnneþe a litil drope of his woord wee han herd, who ſhal moun þe þunder of his gretneſſe beholde?
