Ecclesiastes 3
1To all things there is a time, 1 And a season for every matter under heaven. 1
2A time of birth, and a time to die; 1 A time to plant, and a time to pluck up what has been planted; 1
3A time to kill, and a time to heal; 1 A time to pull down, and a time to build up; 1
4A time to weep, and a time to laugh; 1 A time to lament, and a time to dance; 1
5A time to throw stones, and a time to gather stones together; 1 A time to embrace, and a time to abstain from embracing; 1
6A time to seek, and a time to lose; 1 A time to keep, and a time to cast away; 1
7A time to rend, and a time to sew; 1 A time to be silent, and a time to speak; 1
8A time to love, and a time to hate; 1 A time of war, and a time of peace. 1
9What advantage has he that works in those things wherein he labors? 1
10I have seen all the trouble, 1 Which God has given to the sons of men to be troubled with. 1
11All the things which he has made are beautiful in his time: 1 He has also set the whole world in their heart, 1 That man might not find out 1 The work which God has wrought from the beginning even to the end. 1
12I know that there is no good in them, 1 Except for a man to rejoice, and to do good in his life. 1
13Also in the case of every man who shall eat and drink, 1 And see good in all his labor, 1 This is a gift of God. 1
14I know that whatsoever things God has done, 1 They shall be forever: 1 It is impossible to add to it, 1 And it is impossible to take away from it: 1 And God has done it, that men may fear before him. 1
15That which has been is now; 1 And whatever things are appointed to be have already been; 1 And God will seek out that which is past. 1
16And moreover I saw under the sun the place of judgment, 1 There was the ungodly one; 1 And the place of righteousness, 1 There was the godly one. 1
17And I said in my heart, 1 God will judge the righteous and the ungodly: 1 For there is a time there for every action 1 And for every work. 1
18I said in my heart, 1 Concerning the speech of the sons of man, 1 God will judge them, 1 And that to show that they are beasts. 1
19Also to them is the event of the sons of man, 1 And the event of the brute; 1 One event befalls them: 1 As is the death of the one, so also the death of the other; 1 And there is one breath to all: 1 And what has the man more than the brute? 1 Nothing; for all is vanity. 1
20All go to one place; 1 All were formed of the dust, 1 And all will return to dust. 1
21And who has seen the spirit of the sons of man, 1 Whether it goes upward? 1 And the spirit of the beast, 1 Whether it goes downward to the earth? 1
22And I saw that there was no good, 1 But that wherein a man shall rejoice in his works, 1 For it is his portion, 1 For who shall bring him to see anything of that which shall be after him?
