Song of Solomon 3
At night on my bed 1 I was longing for him whom my soul loves; 1 I looked for him, but I could not find him. 1
I said to myself, “I will get up and go through the city, 1 through the streets and squares; 1 I will search for him whom my soul loves.” 1 I searched for him, but I did not find him. 1
The watchmen found me as they were making their rounds in the city. 1 I asked them, “Have you seen him whom my soul loves?” 1
It was only a little while after I had passed them 1 that I found him whom my soul loves. 1 I held him and would not let him go 1 until I had brought him into my mother's house, 1 into the bedroom of the one who had conceived me. The woman speaking to the other women 1
I want you to swear, daughters of Jerusalem, 1 by the gazelles and the does of the fields, 1 that you will not awaken or arouse love 1 until she pleases. The woman speaking to herself 1
What is that coming up from the wilderness 1 like a column of smoke, 1 perfumed with myrrh and frankincense, 1 with all the powders sold by merchants? 1
Look, it is the bed of Solomon; 1 sixty warriors surround it, 1 sixty soldiers of Israel. 1
All of them are skilled with a sword and are experienced in warfare. 1 Every man has his sword at his side, 1 armed against the terrors of the night. 1
King Solomon made himself a sedan chair 1 of the wood from Lebanon. 1
Its posts were made of silver; 1 the back was made of gold, and the seat of purple cloth. 1 Its interior was decorated with love 1 by the daughters of Jerusalem. The woman speaking to the women of Jerusalem 1
Go out, daughters of Zion, and gaze on King Solomon, 1 bearing the crown with which his mother crowned him 1 on his wedding day, 1 on the day of the joy of his heart.
