Micah 2
1Woe to those who plan iniquity, 1 to those who plan on their beds to do evil. 1 In the morning light they do it 1 because they have power. 1
2They desire fields and seize them; 1 they desire houses and take them. 1 They oppress a man and his house, 1 a man and his inheritance. 1
3Therefore Yahweh says this, 1 “Look, I am about to bring disaster against this clan, 1 from which you will not remove your necks. 1 You will not walk arrogantly, 1 for it will be an evil time. 1
4In that day men will sing a song about you, 1 and lament with a wailing lamentation. 1 They will sing, 'We Israelites are completely ruined; 1 Yahweh changes the territory of my people. 1 How can he remove it from me? 1 He portions out our fields to traitors!'” 1
5Therefore, you rich people will have no descendants to divide up the territory by lot 1 in the assembly of Yahweh. 1
6“Do not prophesy,” 1 they say. 1 “They must not prophesy these things; 1 reproaches must not come.” 1
7Should it really be said, house of Jacob, 1 “Is the Spirit of Yahweh angry? 1 Are these really his deeds?” 1 Do not my words do good 1 to anyone who walks uprightly? 1
8Lately my people have risen up like an enemy. 1 You strip the robe, the garment, from those who pass by unsuspectingly, 1 as soldiers return from war to what they think is safety. 1
9You drive the women belonging to my people from their pleasant houses; 1 you take my blessing from their young children forever. 1
10Get up and leave, 1 for this is not a place where you can stay, 1 because of its uncleanness; 1 it is destroyed with complete destruction. 1
11If someone comes to you in a spirit of falsehood and lies and says, 1 “I will prophesy to you about wine and strong drink,” 1 he would be considered to be a prophet for this people.
12I will surely assemble all of you, Jacob. 1 I will surely gather the remnant of Israel. 1 I will bring them together like sheep in a fold, 1 like a flock in the midst of their pasture. 1 There will be a loud noise because of the multitude of people. 1
13Someone who breaks open their way for them will go ahead of them. 1 They break through the gate and go out; 1 their king will pass on before them. 1 Yahweh will be at their head.
