Song of Solomon 8
I would that thou, O my kinsman, wert he that sucked the breasts of my mother; 1 When I found thee without, I would kiss thee; 1 Yea, they should not despise me. 1
I would take thee, I would bring thee into my mother’s house, 1 And into the chamber of her that conceived me; 1 I would make thee to drink of spiced wine, 1 Of the juice of my pomegranates. 1
His left hand should be under my head, 1 And his right hand should embrace me. 1
I have charged you, ye daughters of Jerusalem, 1 By the virtues of the field, 1 That ye stir not up, nor awake my love, until he please. 1
Who is this that comes up all white, 1 Leaning on her kinsman? 1 I raised thee up under an apple tree; 1 There thy mother brought thee forth; 1 There she that bore thee brought thee forth. 1
Set me as a seal upon thy heart, 1 As a seal upon thine arm; 1 For love is strong as death; 1 Jealousy is cruel as the grave, 1 Her shafts are shafts of fire, even the flames thereof. 1
Much water will not be able to quench love, 1 And rivers shall not drown it; 1 If a man would give all his substance for love, 1 Men would utterly despise it. 1
Our sister is little, and has no breasts; 1 What shall we do for our sister, 1 In the day wherein she shall be spoken for? 1
If she is a wall, let us build upon her silver bulwarks; 1 And if she is a door, let us carve for her cedar panels. 1
I am a wall, and my breasts are as towers; 1 I was in their eyes as one that found peace. 1
Solomon had a vineyard in Baal-hamon; 1 He let his vineyard to keepers; 1 Every one was to bring for its fruit a thousand pieces of silver. 1
My vineyard, even mine, is before me; 1 Solomon shall have a thousand, 1 And they that keep its fruit two hundred. 1
Thou that dwellest in the gardens, 1 The companions hearken to thy voice: 1 Make me hear it. 1
Away, my kinsman, and be like a doe 1 Or a fawn on the mountains of spices.
