Proverbs 13
1A wise son hears his father's instruction, 1 but a mocker will not listen to rebuke. 1
2From the fruit of his mouth a person enjoys good things, 1 but the appetite of the treacherous is for violence. 1
3The one who guards his mouth protects his life, 1 but the one who opens wide his lips will ruin himself. 1
4The appetite of lazy people craves but gets nothing, 1 but the appetite of diligent people will be richly satisfied. 1
5The righteous person hates lies, 1 but a wicked person makes himself repugnant, and he does what is shameful. 1
6Righteousness protects those who are faultless in their path, 1 but wickedness turns away those who commit sin. 1
7There is someone who enriches himself, but has nothing at all, 1 and there is someone who gives everything away, yet is truly wealthy. 1
8The ransom of a rich man's life is his wealth, 1 but a poor person does not hear a threat. 1
9The light of righteous people rejoices, 1 but the lamp of wicked people will be put out. 1
10Pride only breeds conflict, 1 but for those who listen to good advice there is wisdom. 1
11Wealth dwindles away when there is too much vanity, 1 but the one who makes money by working with his hand will make his money grow. 1
12When hope is postponed, it breaks the heart, 1 but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life. 1
13Whoever despises instruction brings destruction on himself, 1 but he who respects the commandment will be rewarded. 1
14The teaching of a wise person is a fountain of life, 1 turning you away from the snares of death. 1
15Good insight wins favor, 1 but the way of the treacherous is never-ending. 1
16Prudent people act out of knowledge in every decision, 1 but a fool parades his folly. 1
17A wicked messenger falls into trouble, 1 but a faithful envoy brings reconciliation. 1
18The one who ignores instruction will have poverty and shame, 1 but honor will come to him who learns from correction. 1
19A longing realized is sweet to the appetite, 1 but fools hate to turn away from evil. 1
20Walk with wise people and you will be wise, 1 but the companion of fools will suffer harm. 1
21Disaster runs after sinners, 1 but righteous people are rewarded with good. 1
22A good person leaves an inheritance for his grandchildren, 1 but a sinner's wealth is stored up for the righteous person. 1
23An unplowed field owned by the poor could produce much food, 1 but it is swept away by injustice. 1
24The one who does not discipline his son hates him, 1 but one who loves his son is careful to instruct him. 1
25The righteous person eats until he satisfies his appetite, 1 but the stomach of the wicked is always hungry.
