Proverbs 16
1The plans of the heart belong to a person, 1 but from Yahweh comes the answer from his tongue. 1
2All of a person's ways are pure in his own eyes, 1 but Yahweh weighs the spirits. 1
3Commit your works to Yahweh 1 and your plans will succeed. 1
4Yahweh has made everything for its purpose, 1 even the wicked for the day of trouble. 1
5Yahweh hates everyone who has an arrogant heart, 1 but be sure of this, they will not go unpunished. 1
6By covenant faithfulness and trustworthiness iniquity is atoned for 1 and by the fear of Yahweh people turn away from evil. 1
7When a person's ways are pleasing to Yahweh, 1 he makes even that person's enemies to be at peace with him. 1
8Better is a little with what is right, 1 than a large income with injustice. 1
9In his heart a person plans out his way, 1 but Yahweh directs his steps. 1
10Insightful decisions are on the lips of a king, 1 his mouth should not betray justice. 1
11Honest scales come from Yahweh; 1 all the weights in the bag are his work. 1
12When kings do wicked things, that is something to be despised, 1 for a throne is established by doing what is right. 1
13A king delights in lips that say what is right 1 and he loves the one who speaks directly. 1
14A king's wrath is a messenger of death 1 but a wise man will try to calm his anger. 1
15In the light of a king's face is life 1 and his favor is like a cloud that brings a spring rain. 1
16How much better it is to get wisdom than gold. 1 To get understanding should be chosen more than silver. 1
17The highway of upright people turns away from evil; 1 the one who protects his life guards his way. 1
18Pride comes before destruction 1 and a haughty spirit before a downfall. 1
19It is better to be humble among poor people 1 than to divide the spoil with proud people. 1
20Whoever contemplates what they are taught will find what is good, 1 and those who trust in Yahweh will be blessed. 1
21The one who is wise in heart is called discerning 1 and sweetness of speech improves the ability to teach. 1
22Understanding is a fountain of life to the one who has it, 1 but the instruction of fools is their foolishness. 1
23The heart of a wise person gives insight to his mouth 1 and adds persuasiveness to his lips. 1
24Pleasant words are a honeycomb— 1 sweet to the soul and healing to the bones. 1
25There is a way that seems right to a man, 1 but its end is the way to death. 1
26The laborer's appetite works for him; 1 his hunger urges him on. 1
27A worthless person digs up mischief 1 and his speech is like a scorching fire. 1
28A perverse person stirs up conflict 1 and a gossip separates close friends. 1
29A man of violence lies to his neighbor 1 and leads him down a path that is not good. 1
30The one who winks the eye is plotting perverse things; 1 those who purse the lips will bring evil to pass. 1
31Gray hair is a crown of glory; 1 it is gained by living the right way. 1
32It is better to be slow to anger than to be a warrior 1 and one who rules his spirit is stronger than one who conquers a city. 1
33The lots are cast into the lap, 1 but the decision is from Yahweh.
