Proverbs 2
1My son, if you receive my words 1 and treasure up my commandments with you, 1
2make your ears pay attention to wisdom 1 and incline your heart to understanding. 1
3If you cry out for understanding 1 and raise your voice for it, 1
4if you seek it like you would seek silver 1 and search for understanding as you would seek hidden treasures, 1
5then you will understand the fear of Yahweh 1 and you will find the knowledge of God. 1
6For Yahweh gives wisdom, 1 from his mouth comes knowledge and understanding. 1
7He stores up sound wisdom for those who please him, 1 he is a shield for those who walk in integrity, 1
8he guards the paths of justice 1 and he will preserve the way of those who are faithful to him. 1
9Then you will understand righteousness, justice, and equity, 1 and every good path. 1
10For wisdom will come into your heart, 1 and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul. 1
11Discretion will watch over you, 1 understanding will guard you. 1
12They will rescue you from the way of evil, 1 from those who speak perverse things, 1
13who abandon the right paths 1 and walk in the ways of darkness. 1
14They rejoice when they do evil 1 and delight in the perversities of evil. 1
15They follow crooked paths, 1 and using deception they hide their tracks. 1
16Wisdom and discretion will save you from an adulterous woman, 1 from an immoral woman and her flattering words. 1
17She forsakes the companion of her youth 1 and forgets the covenant of her God. 1
18For her house leads down to death 1 and her tracks will lead you to those in the grave. 1
19All who go in to her will not return again 1 and they will not find the paths of life. 1
20So you will walk in the way of good people 1 and follow the paths of righteous people. 1
21For those doing right will make a home in the land, 1 and those with integrity will remain in it. 1
22But the wicked will be cut off from the land, 1 and the faithless will be cut off from it.
