Proverbs 15
1A gentle answer turns away wrath, 1 but a harsh word stirs up anger. 1
2The tongue of wise people compliments knowledge, 1 but the mouth of fools pours out folly. 1
3The eyes of Yahweh are everywhere, 1 keeping watch over the evil and the good. 1
4A healing tongue is a tree of life, 1 but a deceitful tongue crushes the spirit. 1
5A fool has contempt for his father's instruction, 1 but he who learns from correction is prudent. 1
6In the house of the righteous person there is great treasure, 1 but the earnings of the wicked person give him trouble. 1
7The lips of wise people scatter knowledge about, 1 but not so the hearts of fools. 1
8Yahweh hates the sacrifices of wicked people, 1 but the prayer of upright people is his delight. 1
9Yahweh hates the way of wicked people, 1 but he loves the one who pursues what is right. 1
10Harsh discipline awaits anyone who forsakes the way 1 and he who hates correction will die. 1
11Sheol and destruction are open before Yahweh; 1 how much more the hearts of the sons of mankind? 1
12The mocker resents correction; 1 he will not go to the wise. 1
13A joyful heart makes the face cheerful, 1 but heartache crushes the spirit. 1
14The heart of the discerning seeks knowledge, 1 but the mouth of fools feeds on folly. 1
15All the days of oppressed people are miserable, 1 but a cheerful heart has an unending feast. 1
16Better is little with the fear of Yahweh 1 than great treasure with confusion. 1
17Better is a meal with vegetables where there is love 1 than a fatted calf served with hatred. 1
18An angry man stirs up arguments, 1 but a person who is slow to anger quiets a quarrel. 1
19The path of the sluggard is like a place with a hedge of thorns, 1 but the path of the upright is a built-up highway. 1
20A wise son brings joy to his father, 1 but a foolish person despises his mother. 1
21Folly delights a person who lacks sense, 1 but the one who has understanding walks a straight path. 1
22Plans go wrong where there is no advice, 1 but with numerous advisors they succeed. 1
23A person finds joy when he gives a pertinent reply; 1 how good is a timely word! 1
24The path of life leads upward for prudent people, 1 that they may turn away from Sheol beneath. 1
25Yahweh tears down the house of the proud, 1 but he protects the property of the widow. 1
26Yahweh hates the thoughts of wicked people, 1 but the words of kindness are pure. 1
27The robber brings trouble to his family, 1 but the one who hates bribes will live. 1
28The heart of the righteous person ponders before it answers, 1 but the mouth of wicked people pours out all its evil. 1
29Yahweh is far away from wicked people, 1 but he hears the prayer of righteous people. 1
30The light of the eyes brings joy to the heart 1 and good news is health to the body. 1
31If you pay attention when someone corrects how you live, 1 you will remain among wise people. 1
32The one who rejects discipline despises himself, 1 but he who listens to correction gains understanding. 1
33The fear of Yahweh teaches wisdom 1 and humility comes before honor.
