Proverbs 29
1A person who has received many rebukes but who stiffens his neck 1 will be broken in a moment beyond healing. 1
2When righteous people increase, the people rejoice, 1 but when a wicked person is the ruler, the people sigh. 1
3Whoever loves wisdom makes his father rejoice, 1 but he who keeps company with prostitutes destroys his wealth. 1
4The king establishes the land by justice, 1 but the one who demands bribes tears it down. 1
5A man who flatters his neighbor 1 is spreading a net for his feet. 1
6In the sin of an evil person is a trap, 1 but the righteous person sings and rejoices. 1
7The righteous person knows the rights of the poor; 1 the wicked person does not understand such knowledge. 1
8Mockers set a city on fire, 1 but those who are wise turn away wrath. 1
9When a wise person has an argument with a fool, 1 he rages and laughs, and there will be no rest. 1
10The bloodthirsty hate the one who is blameless 1 and seek the life of the upright. 1
11A fool reveals all his anger, 1 but a wise man holds it back and calms himself down. 1
12If a ruler pays attention to lies, 1 all his officials will be wicked. 1
13The poor person and the oppressor are similar, 1 for Yahweh gives light to the eyes of them both. 1
14If a king judges the poor by the truth, 1 his throne will be established forever. 1
15The rod and reproof give wisdom, 1 but a child freed from discipline puts his mother to shame. 1
16When wicked people are in power, transgression increases, 1 but righteous people will see the downfall of those wicked people. 1
17Discipline your son and he will give you rest; 1 he will bring delights into your life. 1
18Where there is no prophetic vision the people run wild, 1 but the one who keeps the law is blessed. 1
19A slave will not be corrected by words, 1 for though he understands, there will be no response. 1
20See a man who is hasty in his words? 1 There is more hope for a fool than for him. 1
21One who pampers his slave from youth, 1 at the end of it there will be trouble. 1
22An angry person stirs up strife 1 and a master of rage commits many sins. 1
23A person's pride brings him low, 1 but one who has a humble spirit will be given honor. 1
24One who shares with a thief hates his own life; 1 he hears the curse and says nothing. 1
25The fear of man makes a snare, 1 but the one who trusts in Yahweh will be protected. 1
26Many are those who seek the face of the ruler, 1 but from Yahweh is justice for a person. 1
27An unjust man is an abomination to righteous people, 1 but the one whose way is upright is detestable to the wicked person.
