Isaiah 34
1Come near, you nations, to sh'ma ·hear obey·! 2 Listen, you peoples. 2 Let the earth and all it contains sh'ma ·hear obey·; 2 the world, and everything that comes from it. 1
2For Adonai is enraged against all the nations, 2 and angry with all their armies. 1 He has utterly destroyed them. 2 He has given them over for slaughter. 1
3Their slain will also be cast out, 2 and the stench of their dead bodies will come up; 2 and the mountains will melt in their blood. 1

5For my sword has drunk its fill in the sky. 2 Behold, it will come down on Edom [Red], 2 and on the people of my curse, for judgment. 1
6Adonai’s sword is filled with blood. 2 It is covered with fat, with the blood of lambs and goats, 2 with the fat of the kidneys of rams; 2 for Adonai has a sacrifice in Bozrah, 2 And a great slaughter in the land of Edom [Red]. 1
7The wild oxen will come down with them, 2 and the young bulls with the mighty bulls; 2 and their land will be drunken with blood, 2 and their dust made greasy with fat. 1
8For Adonai has a day of vengeance, 2 a year of recompense for the cause of Zion [Mountain ridge, Marking]. 1
9Its streams will be turned into pitch, 2 its dust into sulfur, 2 And its land will become burning pitch. 1

11But the pelican and the porcupine will possess it. 2 The owl and the raven will dwell in it. 1 He will stretch the line of confusion over it, 2 and the plumb line of emptiness. 1
12They shall call its nobles to the kingdom, but none shall be there; 2 and all its princes shall be nothing. 1
13Thorns will come up in its palaces, 2 nettles and thistles in its fortresses; 2 and it will be a habitation of jackals, 2 a court for ostriches. 1
14The wild animals of the desert will meet with the wolves, 2 and the wild goat will cry to his fellow. 1 Yes, the night creature shall settle there, 2 and shall find herself a place of rest. 1
15The arrow snake will make her nest there, 2 and lay, hatch, and gather under her shade. 2 Yes, the kites will be gathered there, every one with her mate. 1
16Search in the book of Adonai, and read: 2 not one of these will be missing. 2 None will lack her mate. 2 For my mouth has enjoined, 2 and his Ruach ·Spirit, Breath· has gathered them. 1
17He has cast the lot for them, 2 and his hand has divided it to them with a measuring line. 2 They shall possess it forever. 2 From generation to generation they will dwell in it.
