Isaiah 46
1Bel bows down. 2 Nebo stoops. 1 Their idols are carried by animals, 2 and on the livestock. 1 The things that you carried around are heavy loads, 2 a burden for the weary. 1
2They stoop and they bow down together. 2 They could not deliver the burden, 2 but they have gone into captivity. 1
3“ Sh'ma ·Hear obey· me, house of Jacob [Supplanter], 2 and all the remnant of the house of Israel [God prevails], 1 that have been carried from their birth, 2 that have been carried from the rachamim ·wombs / bowels of compassions·. 1
4Even to old age I am he, 2 and even to gray hairs I will carry you. 1 I have made, and I will bear. 2 Yes, I will carry, and will deliver. 1
5“To whom will you liken me, and consider my equal, 2 and compare me, that we may be equal? 1
6Some pour out gold from the bag, 2 and weigh silver in the balance. 1 They hire a goldsmith, 2 and he makes it a deity. 1 They fall down— 2 yes, they worship. 1
7They bear it on their shoulder. 2 They carry it, and set it in its place, and it stands there. 2 It cannot move from its place. 1 Yes, one may cry to it, yet it cannot answer. 2 It cannot save him out of his trouble. 1
8“Remember this, and show yourselves men. 2 Bring it to mind again, you rebellious who break away from authority thus breaking relationship. 1
9Remember the former things of old: 2 for I am God, and there is no other. 2 I am God, and there is none like me. 1
10I declare the end from the beginning, 2 and from ancient times things that are not yet done. 1 I say: My counsel will stand, 2 and I will do all that I please. 1
11I call a ravenous bird from the east, 2 the man of my counsel from a far country. 1 Yes, I have spoken. 2 I will also bring it to pass. 1 I have planned. 2 I will also do it. 1
12Sh'ma ·Hear obey· me, you stubborn-hearted, 2 who are far from righteousness! 1
13I bring my righteousness near. 2 It is not far off, 2 and my salvation will not wait. 1 I will grant salvation to Zion [Mountain ridge, Marking], 2 my glory to Israel [God prevails].
