Isaiah 61
1+ 61:1. MP: Messiah will have the Spirit of God upon Him to accomplish His appointed works from God. Consider the purpose of the Spirit in (Is 11:2). (Matt 3:16-17; John 1:32-33) The Ruach of 'Adonay Yahweh [Spirit, Breath of Lord He sustains breathing] is on me; 2 + 61:1 b MP: Messiah has the anointing to proclaim liberty to captives. (John 8:36; 2 Cor 3:17) because Adonai has anointed me to preach good news to the poor + 61:1. Quoted in Matt 11:5; Luke 7:22 and humble. 1 He has sent me to heal the broken hearted, 2 + 61:1 c MP: Messiah has the ministry to proclaim freedom to prisoners (slaves to sin). (John 8:31-34; Rom 6:16-20, 8:1-4) to proclaim liberty to the captives, 2 + 61:1 (1-2) MP: Messiah’s ministry includes preaching the good news to those afflicted and binding the broken hearted. (Matt 11:5; Luke 4:18-21) to let out into the light those bound in the dark, 2 and to restore the crushed with forgiveness; 1
2+ 61:2 a MP: Messiah proclaims the favorable time and grace of God. (Matt 4:17; Acts 17:30; 2 Cor 6:2) to proclaim the year of Adonai’s favor, + 61:2. Quoted in Luke 4:18-19 2 + 61:2 b MP: Messiah brings the time of God’s judgment and vengeance. (John 3:16-19, 12:47-48; Acts 17:31) and the day of vengeance of our God; 2 to comfort all who mourn; 1
3+ 61:3. MP: Fulfilled in the second coming is the establishing of the Messianic Kingdom and giving glory to those who mourned in Zion. (Rev 21:3-4) to provide for those who mourn in Zion [Mountain ridge, Marking], 2 to give to them a garland for ashes, 2 the oil of joy for mourning, 2 the garment of tehilah ·praise song· for the spirit of heaviness; 1 that they may be called trees of righteousness, 2 the planting of Adonai, 2 that he may be glorified. 1
4They will rebuild the old ruins. 2 They will raise up the places long devastated. 1 They will repair the ruined cities, 2 that have been devastated for many generations. 1
5Strangers will stand and feed your flocks, 2 and foreigners will work your fields and your vineyards. 1
6But you will be called Adonai’s priests. + 61:6. (1-2) Quoted in 1 Pet 2:9 2 Men will call you the servants of our God. 1 You will eat the wealth of the nations, 2 and you will boast in their kavod ·weighty glory·. 1
7Instead of your shame you will have double. 2 Instead of dishonor, they will rejoice in their portion. 1 Therefore in their land, they will possess double. 2 Everlasting joy will be to them. 1
8“For I, Adonai, 'ahav ·affectionately love· mishpat ·justice·. 2 I hate robbery for burnt offerings. 1 I will give them their reward in truth, 2 and I will make an everlasting covenant ·binding contract between two or more parties· with them. 1
9Their offspring will be known among the nations, 2 and their offspring among the peoples. 1 All who see them will acknowledge them, 2 that they are the offspring which Adonai has blessed.” 1
10I will greatly rejoice in Adonai! 2 My soul will be joyful in my God; 1 for he has clothed me with the garments of yesha' ·salvation·. 2 He has covered me with the robe of righteousness, 2 as a bridegroom decks himself with a garland, 2 and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels. 1
11For as the earth produces its bud, 2 and as the garden causes the things that are sown in it to spring up; 2 so 'Adonay Adonai [Lord Yahweh] will cause righteousness and tehilah ·praise song· to spring up before all the nations.
