Proverbs 10
1The proverbs of Solomon [Peaceable, Recompense]. 1 A wise son makes a glad father; 2 but a foolish son brings grief to his mother. 1
2Treasures of ethical wickedness profit nothing, 2 but righteousness delivers from death. 1
3Adonai will not allow the soul of the upright to go hungry, 2 but he thrusts away the desire of the wicked. 1
4He becomes poor who works with a lazy hand, 2 but the hand of the diligent brings wealth. 1
5He who gathers in summer is a wise son, 2 but he who sleeps during the harvest is a son who causes shame. 1
6Blessings are on the head of the upright, 2 but violence covers the mouth of the wicked. 1
7The memory of the upright is blessed, 2 but the name of the wicked will rot. 1
8The wise in heart receives mitzvot ·instructions·, 2 but a chattering fool will fall. 1
9He who walks blamelessly walks surely, 2 but he who perverts his ways + 10:9. Quoted in Acts 13:10 will be found out. 1

11The mouth of the upright is a spring of life, 2 but violence covers the mouth of the wicked. 1

13Wisdom is found on the lips of him who has discernment, 2 but a rod is for the back of him who is void of understanding. 1
14Wise men lay up knowledge, 2 but the mouth of the foolish is near ruin. 1
15The rich man’s wealth is his strong city. 2 The destruction of the poor is their poverty. 1
16The labor of the upright leads to life. 2 The increase of the wicked leads to habitual sin ·missing the mark·. 1
17He is in the way of life who heeds correction, 2 but he who forsakes reproof leads others astray. 1
18He who hides hatred has lying lips. 2 He who utters a slander is a fool. 1
19In the multitude of words there is no lack of rebellious breach of relationship, 2 but he who restrains his lips + 10:19. Quoted in James 1:19 does wisely. 1
20The tongue of the upright is like choice silver. 2 The heart of the wicked is of little worth. 1
21The lips of the upright feed many, 2 but the foolish die for lack of understanding. 1
22Adonai’s blessing brings wealth, 2 and he adds no trouble to it. 1
23It is a fool’s pleasure to do wickedness, 2 but wisdom is a man of understanding’s pleasure. 1
24What the wicked fear, will overtake them, 2 but the desire of the upright will be granted. 1
25When the whirlwind passes, the wicked is no more; 2 but the upright stand firm forever. 1
26As vinegar to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, 2 so is the sluggard to those who send him. 1
27The fear of Adonai prolongs days, 2 but the years of the wicked shall be shortened. 1
28The prospect of the upright is joy, 2 but the hope of the wicked will perish. 1
29The way of Adonai is a stronghold to the upright, 2 but it is a destruction to the workers of vain striving of iniquity. 1
30The upright will never be removed, 2 but the wicked will not dwell in the land. 1
31The mouth of the upright produces wisdom, 2 but the perverse tongue will be cut off. 1
32The lips of the upright know what is acceptable, 2 but the mouth of the wicked is perverse.
