Proverbs 12
1Whoever 'ahav ·affectionately loves· correction loves knowledge, 2 but he who hates reproof is stupid. 1
2A good man shall obtain favor from Adonai, 2 but he will condemn as guilty a man of wicked devices. 1
3A man shall not be established by ethical wickedness, 2 but the root of the upright shall not be moved. 1
4A worthy woman is the crown of her husband, 2 but a disgraceful wife is as rottenness in his bones. 1
5The thoughts of the upright are mishpat ·just·, 2 but the advice of the wicked is deceitful. 1
6The words of the wicked are about lying in wait for blood, 2 but the speech of the upright rescues them. 1
7The wicked are overthrown, and are no more, 2 but the house of the upright shall stand. 1
8A man shall be commended according to his wisdom, 2 but he who has a linnened mind shall be despised. 1
9Better is he who is lightly esteemed, and has a servant, 2 than he who honors himself, and lacks bread. 1
10A upright man respects the life of his animal, 2 but the tender rachamim ·merciful loves· of the wicked is cruel. 1
11He who tills his land shall have plenty of bread, 2 but he who chases fantasies is void of understanding. 1
12The wicked desires the plunder of evil men, 2 but the root of the upright flourishes. 1
13An evil man is trapped by rebellious breach of relationship of lips, 2 but the upright shall come out of trouble. 1
14A man shall be satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth. 2 The work of a man’s hands shall be rewarded to him. 1
15The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, 2 but he who is wise sh'ma ·hears obeys· counsel. 1
16A fool shows his annoyance the same day, 2 but one who overlooks an insult is prudent. 1
17He who is truthful testifies honestly, 2 but a false witness lies. 1
18There is one who speaks rashly like the piercing of a sword, 2 but the tongue of the wise heals. 1
19Truth’s lips will be established forever, 2 but a lying tongue is only momentary. 1
20Deceit is in the heart of those who plot evil, 2 but joy comes to the promoters of peace. 1
21No vain striving of iniquity shall happen to the upright, 2 but the wicked shall be filled with evil. 1
22Lying lips are an abomination to Adonai, 2 but those who do the truth are his delight. 1
23A prudent man keeps his knowledge, 2 but the hearts of fools proclaim foolishness. 1
24The hands of the diligent ones shall rule, 2 but laziness ends in slave labor. 1
25Anxiety in a man’s heart weighs it down, 2 but a kind word makes it glad. 1
26A upright person is cautious in friendship, 2 but the way of the wicked leads them astray. 1
27The slothful man does not roast his game, 2 but the possessions of diligent men are prized. 1
28In the way of righteousness is life; 2 in its path there is no death.
