Job 11
1Then Zophar the Naamathite answered and said, 1
2“Should not such a multitude of words be answered? 1 Should this man, so full of talk, be believed? 1
3Should your boasting make others remain silent? 1 When you mock, will no one make you feel ashamed? 1
4For you say to God, 'My beliefs are pure, 1 I am blameless in your eyes.' 1
5But, oh, that God would speak 1 and open his lips against you; 1
6that he would show you the secrets of wisdom! 1 For he is great in understanding. 1 Know then that God demands from you less than your iniquity deserves. 1
7Can you understand God by searching for him? 1 Can you comprehend the Almighty perfectly? 1
8The matter is as high as heaven; what can you do? 1 It is deeper than Sheol; what can you know? 1
9Its measure is longer than the earth, 1 and wider than the sea. 1
10If he passes through and shuts anyone up, 1 if he calls anyone to judgment, then who can stop him? 1
11For he knows false people; 1 when he sees iniquity, does he not notice it? 1
12But foolish people have no understanding; 1 they will get it when a wild donkey gives birth to a man. 1
13But suppose that you had set your heart right 1 and had reached out with your hands toward God; 1
14suppose that iniquity were in your hand, but that then you put it far away from you, 1 and did not let unrighteousness live in your tents. 1
15Then you would certainly lift up your face without a sign of shame; 1 indeed, you would be steadfast and would not fear. 1
16You would forget your misery; 1 you would remember it only like waters that have flowed away. 1
17Your life would be brighter than the noonday; 1 though there were darkness, it would become like the morning. 1
18You would be secure because there is hope; 1 indeed, you would find safety about you and would take your rest in safety. 1
19Also you would lie down in rest, and none would make you afraid; 1 indeed, many would seek your favor. 1
20But the eyes of wicked people will fail; 1 they will have no way to flee; 1 their only hope will be a last gasp of life.”
