Job 13
See, my eye has seen all this; 1 my ear has heard and understood it. 1
What you know, the same I also know; 1 I am not inferior to you. 1
However, I would rather speak with the Almighty; 1 I wish to reason with God. 1
But you whitewash the truth with lies; 1 you are all physicians of no value. 1
Oh, that you would altogether hold your peace! 1 That would be your wisdom. 1
Hear now my own reasoning; 1 listen to the pleading of my own lips. 1
Will you speak unrighteously for God, 1 and will you talk deceitfully for him? 1
Will you show him partiality? 1 Will you argue the case for God? 1
Will it be good for you when he searches you out? 1 Could you deceive him as you might deceive men? 1
He would surely reprove you 1 if in secret you showed partiality. 1
Will not his majesty terrify you, 1 and the dread of him fall upon you? 1
Your memorable sayings are proverbs made of ashes; 1 your defenses are defenses made of clay. 1
Hold your peace, let me alone, so that I may speak, 1 let come what may on me. 1
I will take my own flesh in my teeth; 1 I will take my life in my hands. 1
See, if he kills me, I will have no hope left; 1 nevertheless, I will defend my ways before him. 1
This will be the reason for my deliverance, 1 for no godless person would come before him. 1
God, listen carefully to my speech; 1 let my declaration come to your ears. 1
See now, I have set my defense in order; 1 I know that I am innocent. 1
Who is the one who would argue against me in court? 1 If you came to do so, and if I were proved wrong, then I would be silent and give up my life. 1
God, do only two things for me, 1 and then I will not hide myself from your face: 1
withdraw your oppressive hand from me, 1 and do not let your terrors make me afraid. 1
Then call me, and I will answer; 1 or let me speak to you, and you answer me. 1
How many are my iniquities and sins? 1 Let me know my transgression and my sin. 1
Why do you hide your face from me 1 and treat me like your enemy? 1
Will you persecute a driven leaf? 1 Will you pursue dry stubble? 1
For you write down bitter things against me; 1 you make me inherit the iniquities of my youth. 1
You also put my feet in the stocks; 1 you closely watch all my paths; 1 you examine the ground where the soles of my feet have walked 1
although I am like a rotten thing that wastes away, 1 like a garment that moths have eaten.
