Job 27
Job resumed speaking and he said, 1
“As surely as God lives, who has taken away my justice, 1 the Almighty, who made my life bitter, 1
while my life is yet in me, 1 and the breath from God is in my nostrils, 1 this is what I will do. 1
My lips will not speak wickedness, 1 neither will my tongue speak deceit;
I will never admit that you three are right; 1 until I die I will never deny my integrity. 1
I hold fast to my righteousness and will not let it go; 1 my thoughts will not reproach me so long as I live. 1
Let my enemy be like a wicked man; 1 let him who rises up against me be like an unrighteous man. 1
For what is the hope of a godless man when God cuts him off, 1 when God takes away his life? 1
Will God hear his cry 1 when trouble comes upon him? 1
Will he delight himself in the Almighty 1 and call upon God at all times? 1
I will teach you concerning the hand of God; 1 I will not conceal the thoughts of the Almighty. 1
See, all of you have seen this yourselves; 1 why then have you spoken all this nonsense? 1
This is the portion of a wicked man with God, 1 the heritage of the oppressor that he receives from the Almighty: 1
If his children multiply, it is for the sword; 1 his offspring will never have enough food. 1
Those who survive him will be buried by plague, 1 and their widows will make no lament for them. 1
Though the wicked man heaps up silver like the dust, 1 and heaps up clothing like clay, 1
he may heap up clothing, but righteous people will put it on, 1 and innocent people will divide up the silver among themselves. 1
He builds his house like a spider, 1 like a hut that a guard makes. 1
He lies down in bed rich, but he will not keep doing so; 1 he opens his eyes, and everything is gone. 1
Terrors overtake him like waters; 1 a storm takes him away in the night. 1
The east wind carries him away, and he leaves; 1 it sweeps him out of his place. 1
It throws itself at him and does not stop; 1 he tries to flee out of its hand. 1
It claps its hands at him in mockery; 1 it hisses him out of his place.
