Proverbs 16
2All the works of the humble man are manifest with God; 1 But the ungodly shall perish in an evil day. 1
5Every one that is proud in heart is unclean before God, 1 And he that unjustly strikes hands with hand shall not be held guiltless. 1
7The beginning of a good way is to do justly; 1 And it is more acceptable with God than to offer sacrifices. 1
8He that seeks the Lord shall find knowledge with righteousness: 1 And they that rightly seek him shall find peace. 1
9All the works of the Lord are done with righteousness; 1 And the ungodly man is kept for the evil day. 1
10There is an oracle upon the lips of a king; 1 And his mouth shall not err in judgment. 1
11The poise of the balance is righteousness with the Lord; 1 And his works are righteous measures. 1
12An evildoer is an abomination to a king; 1 For the throne of rule is established by righteousness. 1
13Righteous lips are acceptable to a king; 1 And he loves right words. 1
14The anger of a king is a messenger of death; 1 But a wise man will pacify him. 1
15The son of a king is in the light of life; 1 And they that are in favor with him are as a cloud of latter rain. 1
16The brood of wisdom is more to be chosen than gold, 1 And the brood of prudence more to be chosen than silver. 1
17The paths of life turn aside from evil; 1 And the ways of righteousness are length of life. 1 He that receives instruction shall be in prosperity; 1 And he that regards reproofs shall be made wise. 1 He that keeps his ways, preserves his own soul; 1 And he that loves his life will spare his mouth. 1
18Pride goes before destruction, 1 And folly before a fall. 1
19Better is a meek-spirited man with lowliness, 1 Than one who divides spoils with the proud. 1
20He who is skillful in business finds good: 1 But he that trusts in God is most blessed. 1
21Men call the wise and understanding evil: 1 But they that are pleasing in speech shall hear more. 1
22Understanding is a fountain of life to its possessors; 1 But the instruction of fools is evil. 1
23The heart of the wise will discern the things which proceed from his own mouth; 1 And on his lips he will wear knowledge. 1
24Good words are honeycombs, 1 And the sweetness thereof is a healing of the soul. 1
25There are ways that seem to be right to a man, 1 But the end of them looks to the depth of hell. 1
26A man who labors, labors for himself, and drives from him his own ruin. 1
27But the perverse bears destruction upon his own mouth: 1 A foolish man digs up evil for himself, 1 And treasures fire on his own lips. 1
28A perverse man spreads mischief, 1 And will kindle a torch of deceit with mischiefs; and he separates friends. 1
29A transgressor tries to ensnare friends, 1 And leads them in ways that are not good. 1
30And the man that fixes his eyes devises perverse things, 1 And marks out with his lips all evils: 1 He is a furnace of wickedness. 1
31Old age is a crown of honor, 1 But it is found in the ways of righteousness. 1
32A man slow to anger is better than a strong man; 1 And he that governs his temper better than he that takes a city. 1
33All evils come upon the ungodly into their bosoms; 1 But all righteous things come of the Lord.
