Proverbs 14
1Wise women build houses: 1 But a foolish one digs hers down with her hands. 1
2He that walks uprightly fears the Lord; 1 But he that is perverse in his ways shall be dishonored. 1
3Out of the mouth of fools comes a rod of pride; 1 But the lips of the wise preserve them. 1
4Where no oxen are, the cribs are clean; 1 But where there is abundant produce, the strength of the ox is apparent. 1
5A faithful witness does not lie; 1 But an unjust witness kindles falsehoods. 1
6Thou shalt seek wisdom with bad men, and shalt not find it; 1 But discretion is easily available with the prudent. 1
7All things are adverse to a foolish man; 1 But wise lips are the weapons of discretion. 1
8The wisdom of the prudent will understand their ways; 1 But the folly of fools leads astray. 1
9The houses of transgressors will need purification; 1 But the houses of the just are acceptable. 1
10If a man’s mind is intelligent, his soul is sorrowful; 1 And when he rejoices, he has no fellowship with pride. 1
11The houses of ungodly men shall be utterly destroyed; 1 But the tabernacles of them that walk uprightly shall stand. 1
12There is a way which seems to be right with men, 1 But the ends of it reach to the depth of hell. 1
13Grief mingles not with mirth; 1 And joy in the end comes to grief. 1
14A stouthearted man shall be filled with his own ways; 1 And a good man with his own thoughts. 1
15The simple believes every word: 1 But the prudent man betakes himself to afterthought. 1
16A wise man fears, and departs from evil; 1 But the fool trusts in himself, and joins himself with the transgressor. 1
17A passionate man acts inconsiderately; 1 But a sensible man bears up under many things. 1
18Fools shall have mischief for their portion; 1 But the prudent shall take fast hold of understanding. 1
19Evil men shall fall before the good; 1 And the ungodly shall attend at the gates of the righteous. 1
20Friends will hate poor friends; 1 But the friends of the rich are many. 1
21He that dishonors the needy sins: 1 But he that has pity on the poor is most blessed. 1
22They that go astray devise evils: 1 But the good devise mercy and truth. 1 The framers of evil do not understand mercy and truth: 1 But compassion and faithfulness are with the framers of good. 1
23With everyone who is careful there is abundance: 1 But the pleasure taking and indolent shall be in want. 1
24A prudent man is the crown of the wise: 1 But the occupation of fools is evil. 1
25A faithful witness shall deliver a soul from evil: 1 But a deceitful man kindles falsehoods. 1
26In the fear of the Lord is strong confidence: 1 And he leaves his children a support. 1
27The commandment of the Lord is a fountain of life; 1 And it causes men to turn aside from the snare of death. 1
28In a populous nation is the glory of a king: 1 But in the failure of people is the ruin of a prince. 1
29A man slow to wrath abounds in wisdom: 1 But a man of impatient spirit is very foolish. 1
30A meek-spirited man is a healer of the heart: 1 But a sensitive heart is a corruption of the bones. 1
31He that oppresses the needy provokes his Maker: 1 But he that honors him has pity upon the poor. 1
32The ungodly shall be driven away in his wickedness: 1 But he who is secure in his own holiness is just. 1
33There is wisdom in the good heart of a man: 1 But in the heart of fools it is not discerned. 1
34Righteousness exalts a nation: 1 But sins diminish tribes. 1
35An understanding servant is acceptable to a king; 1 And by his good behavior he removes disgrace.
