Proverbs 4
1Hear, ye children, the instruction of a father, 1 And attend to know understanding. 1
2For I give you a good gift; 1 Forsake ye not my law. 1
3For I also was a son obedient to my father, 1 And loved in the sight of my mother: 1
4Who spoke and instructed me, saying, 1 Let our speech be fixed in thy heart, 1 Keep our commandments, forget them not: 1
5And do not neglect the speech of my mouth. 1
6And forsake it not, and it shall cleave to thee: 1 Love it, and it shall keep thee. 1
8Secure it, and it shall exalt thee: 1 Honor it, that it may embrace thee; 1
9That it may give unto thy head a crown of graces, 1 And may cover thee with a crown of delight. 1
10Hear, my son, and receive my words; 1 And the years of thy life shall be increased, 1 That the resources of thy life may be many. 1
11For I teach thee the ways of wisdom; 1 And I cause thee to go in right paths. 1
12For when thou goest, thy steps shall not be straitened; 1 And when thou runnest, thou shalt not be distressed. 1
13Take hold of my instruction; let it not go— 1 But keep it for thyself for thy life. 1
14Go not in the ways of the ungodly, 1 Neither covet the ways of transgressors. 1
15In whatever place they shall pitch their camp, go not thither; 1 But turn from them, and pass away. 1
16For they cannot sleep, unless they have done evil: 1 Their sleep is taken away, and they rest not. 1
17For these live upon the bread of ungodliness, 1 And are drunken with wine of transgression. 1
18But the ways of the righteous shine like light; 1 They go on and shine, until the day be fully come. 1
19But the ways of the ungodly are dark; 1 They know not how they stumble. 1
20My son, attend to my speech; 1 And apply thine ear to my words: 1
21That thy fountains may not fail thee; 1 Keep them in thine heart. 1
22For they are life to those that find them, 1 And health to all their flesh. 1
23Keep thy heart with the utmost care; 1 For out of these are the issues of life. 1
24Remove from thee a froward mouth, 1 And put far away from thee unjust lips. 1
25Let thine eyes look right on, 1 And let thine eyelids assent to just things. 1
26Make straight paths for thy feet, 1 And order thy ways aright. 1
27b And he will make thy ways straight, 1 And will guide thy steps in peace.
