Proverbs 3
1My son, forget not my laws; 1 But let thy heart keep my words: 1
2For length of existence, and years of life, 1 And peace, shall they add to thee. 1
3Let not mercy and truth forsake thee; 1 But bind them about thy neck: 1
4So shalt thou find favor: and do thou provide things honest 1 In the sight of the Lord, and of men. 1
5Trust in God with all thy heart; 1 And be not exalted in thine own wisdom. 1
6In all thy ways acquaint thyself with her, 1 That she may rightly direct thy paths. 1
7Be not wise in thine own conceit; 1 But fear God, and depart from all evil. 1
8Then shall there be health to thy body, 1 And good keeping to thy bones. 1
9Honor the Lord with thy just labors, 1 And give him the first of thy fruits of righteousness: 1
10That thy storehouses may be completely filled with corn, 1 And that thy presses may burst forth with wine. 1
11My son, despise not the chastening of the Lord; 1 Nor faint when thou art rebuked of him: 1
12For whom the Lord loves, he rebukes, 1 And scourges every son whom he receives. 1
13Blessed is the man who has found wisdom, 1 And the mortal who knows prudence. 1
14For it is better to traffic for her, 1 Than for treasures of gold and silver. 1
15And she is more valuable than precious stones: 1 No evil thing shall resist her: 1 She is well known to all that approach her, 1 And no precious thing is equal to her in value. 1
16a Out of her mouth proceeds righteousness, 1 And she carries law and mercy upon her tongue. 1
17Her ways are good ways, 1 And all her paths are peaceful. 1
18She is a tree of life to all that lay hold upon her; 1 And she is a secure help to all that stay themselves on her, as on the Lord. 1
19God by wisdom founded the earth, 1 And by prudence he prepared the heavens. 1
20By understanding were the depths broken up, 1 And the clouds dropped water. 1
21My son, let them not pass from thee, 1 But keep my counsel and understanding: 1
22a And it shall be health to thy flesh, 1 And safety to thy bones: 1
23That thou mayest go confidently in peace in all thy ways, 1 And that thy foot may not stumble. 1
24For if thou rest, thou shalt be undismayed; 1 And if thou sleep, thou shalt slumber sweetly. 1
25And thou shalt not be afraid of alarm coming upon thee, 1 Neither of approaching attacks of ungodly men. 1
26For the Lord shall be over all thy ways, 1 And shall establish thy foot that thou be not moved. 1
27Forbear not to do good to the poor, 1 Whensoever thy hand may have power to help him. 1
28Say not, Come back another time, tomorrow I will give; 1 While thou art able to do him good: 1 For thou knowest not what the next day will bring forth. 1
29Devise not evil against thy friend, 1 Living near thee and trusting in thee. 1
30Be not ready to quarrel with a man without a cause, 1 Lest he do thee some harm. 1
31Procure not the reproaches of bad men, 1 Neither do thou covet their ways. 1
32For every transgressor is unclean before the Lord; 1 Neither does he sit among the righteous. 1
33The curse of God is in the houses of the ungodly; 1 But the habitations of the just are blessed. 1
34The Lord resists the proud; 1 But he gives grace to the humble. 1
35The wise shall inherit glory; 1 But the ungodly have exalted their own dishonor.
