Proverbs 2
1My son, if thou wilt receive the utterance of my commandment, and hide it with thee; 1
2Thine ear shall hearken to wisdom; 1 Thou shalt also apply thy heart to understanding, 1 And shalt apply it to the instruction of thy son. 1
3For if thou shalt call to wisdom, 1 And utter thy voice for understanding; 1
4And if thou shalt seek it as silver, 1 And search diligently for it as for treasures; 1
5Then shalt thou understand the fear of the Lord, 1 And find the knowledge of God. 1
6For the Lord gives wisdom; 1 And from his presence come knowledge and understanding, 1
7And he treasures up salvation for them that walk uprightly: 1 He will protect their way; 1
8That he may guard the righteous ways: 1 And he will preserve the way of them that fear him. 1
9Then shalt thou understand righteousness, and judgment; 1 And shalt direct all thy course aright. 1
10For if wisdom shall come into thine understanding, 1 And discernment shall seem pleasing to thy soul, 1
11Good counsel shall guard thee, 1 And holy understanding shall keep thee; 1
12To deliver thee from the evil way, 1 And from the man that speaks nothing faithfully. 1
13Alas for those who forsake right paths, 1 To walk in ways of darkness; 1
14Who rejoice in evils, 1 And delight in wicked perverseness; 1
15Whose paths are crooked, 1 And their courses winding; 1
16To remove thee far from the straight way, 1 And to estrange thee from a righteous purpose. 1 My son, let not evil counsel overtake thee, 1
17Of her who has forsaken the instruction of her youth, 1 And forgotten the covenant of God. 1
18For she has fixed her house near death, 1 And guided her wheels near Hades with the giants. 1
19None that go by her shall return, 1 Neither shall they take hold of right paths, 1 For they are not apprehended of the years of life. 1
20For had they gone in good paths, 1 They would have found the paths of righteousness easy. 1
21For the upright shall dwell in the earth, 1 And the holy shall be left behind in it. 1
22The paths of the ungodly shall perish out of the earth, 1 And transgressors shall be driven away from it.
