Proverbs 9
1Wisdom has built a house for herself, 1 And set up seven pillars. 1
2She has killed her beasts; 1 She has mingled her wine in a bowl, 1 And prepared her table. 1
3She has sent forth her servants, 1 Calling with a loud proclamation to the feast, saying, 1
4Whoso is foolish, let him turn aside to me: 1 And to them that want understanding she says, 1
5Come, eat of my bread, 1 And drink wine which I have mingled for you. 1
6Leave folly, that ye may reign forever; 1 And seek wisdom, 1 And improve understanding by knowledge. 1
7He that reproves evil men shall get dishonor to himself; 1 And he that rebukes an ungodly man shall disgrace himself. 1
8Rebuke not evil men, lest they should hate thee: 1 Rebuke a wise man, and he will love thee. 1
9Give an opportunity to a wise man, and he will be wiser: 1 Instruct a just man, and he will receive more instruction. 1
10a For to know the law is the character of a sound mind. 1
11For in this way thou shalt live long, 1 And years of thy life shall be added to thee. 1
12c And he goes through a dry desert, 1 And a land appointed to drought, 1 And he gathers barrenness with his hands. 1
13A foolish and bold woman, who knows not modesty, 1 Comes to want a morsel. 1
14She sits at the doors of her house, 1 On a seat openly in the streets, 1
15Calling to passers by, 1 And to those that are going right on their ways;
16saying, 1 Whoso is most senseless of you, let him turn aside to me; 1 And I exhort those that want prudence, saying, 1
17Take and enjoy secret bread, 1 And the sweet water of theft. 1
18d That thou mayest live long, 1 And years of life may be added to thee.
