Proverbs 28
1The ungodly man flees when no one pursues: 1 But the righteous is confident as a lion. 1
2By reason of the sins of ungodly men quarrels arise; 1 But a wise man will quell them. 1
3A bold man oppresses the poor by ungodly deeds. 1 As an impetuous and unprofitable rain, 1
4So they that forsake the law praise ungodliness; 1 But they that love the law fortify themselves with a wall. 1
5Evil men will not understand judgment: 1 But they that seek the Lord will understand everything. 1
6A poor man walking in truth is better than a rich liar. 1
7A wise son keeps the law: 1 But he that keeps up debauchery dishonors his father. 1
8He that increases his wealth by usuries and unjust gains, 1 Gathers it for him that pities the poor. 1
9He that turns away his ear from hearing the law, 1 Even he has made his prayer abominable. 1
10He that causes upright men to err in an evil way, 1 Himself shall fall into destruction: 1 Transgressors also shall pass by prosperity, 1 But shall not enter into it. 1
11A rich man is wise in his own conceit; 1 But an intelligent poor man will condemn him. 1
12By reason of the help of righteous men great glory arises: 1 But in the places of the ungodly men are caught. 1
13He that covers his own ungodliness shall not prosper: 1 But he that blames himself shall be loved. 1
14Blessed is the man who religiously fears always: 1 But the hard of heart shall fall into mischiefs. 1
15A hungry lion and a thirsty wolf is he, 1 Who, being poor, rules over a poor nation. 1
16A king in need of revenues is a great oppressor: 1 But he that hates injustice shall live a long time. 1
17a Chasten thy son, and he shall love thee, 1 And give honor to thy soul: 1 He shall not obey a sinful nation. 1
18He that walks justly is assisted: 1 But he that walks in crooked ways shall be entangled therein. 1
19He that tills his own land shall be satisfied with bread: 1 But he that follows idleness shall have plenty of poverty. 1
20A man worthy of credit shall be much blessed: 1 But the wicked shall not be unpunished. 1
21He that reverences not the persons of the just is not good: 1 Such a one will sell a man for a morsel of bread. 1
22An envious man makes haste to be rich, 1 And knows not that the merciful man will have the mastery over him. 1
23He that reproves a man’s ways 1 Shall have more favor than he that flatters with the tongue. 1
24He that casts off father or mother, and thinks he sins not; 1 The same is partaker with an ungodly man. 1
25An unbelieving man judges rashly: 1 But he that trusts in the Lord will act carefully. 1
26He that trusts to a bold heart, such a one is a fool: 1 But he that walks in wisdom shall be safe. 1
27He that gives to the poor shall not be in want: 1 But he that turns away his eye from him shall be in great distress. 1
28In the places of ungodly men the righteous mourn: 1 But in their destruction the righteous shall be multiplied.
